Users reported it difficult to remove backing were probably referring to subsequent uses. The thin backing is nearly invisible so I can see how some might get frustrated. Another reviewer suggested to leave a bit of backing exposed by folding the end of tape on itself to make it easier to grab the backing for next use. That worked for me. Yes it is very sticky, I consider this 'once and done' since repositioning would be difficult if not impossible. Think vinyl sticker "stickiness". I placed the tape at the start knowing where I was going to end up. I unrolled the tape as I went, pulling off a couple inches of backing as I pressed in place. When I reached the end, I made sure to leave some exposed backing. Don't remove all the backing at once. If you do, the tape will stick to itself and stretch as you try to maneuver into place. I applied the tape to the backside of a metal microwave door face plate.
