Other factors such as the PH of the water being used to brew can also effect acidity. There's a band around the edge of the label with "kureg brewed logo" and info that brewer reads. If it doesn't have a ring to read it rejects the k-cup and will not brew. There are still some older labeled k-cups on the market, so be careful. You can expect that, as time goes by all the after market k-cup manufacturers will be changing unless they don't want to have access to the 2.0 machine market.
