Brilliant for a budget surveillance system to keep shops or homes safe while your away!
Note: The seller supplied a review sample for evaluation, the opinion of the product is my own personal view. This is written by DiamondReviews and is not in any way meant to be copied.Warning – This review is long but we have ensured it is thorough and covers everyone’s needs.I've been looking around for a while now for a decent IP camera that does everything I need it too, my old IP camera never connected via WiFi and was a disappointment because WiFi capabilities allow you to use it at a wider range without any pesky cables.• Company Overview – Who are they? This camera which is offered by Vstarcam who are a professional network camera manufacturer and have years of experience in manufacturing different types of cameras whether that’s Waterproof, Network Type & Alarm surveillance cameras. The company is based in Shenzhen, China and they sell products in USA, Europe, India, Brazil and Russia.• Connecting the camera – How easy is it to connect?I've not used a camera that connects to a network that’s so easy to connect. Vstarcam have implemented a new technology technique to make it so easy for anyone to connect a camera to your local network. This technology is called ‘One key WI-FI configuration’ which enables the user to connect the camera to the same network as your phone using the app that they provide you with through their website. The app is designed to help guide you through this simple process which only needs to be done once or unless you reset the camera to default settings in the future. The instructions are thorough but yet so easy to follow due to the set-up being voice controlled by a calm lady’s voice. Easiest set-up I've experienced……• Downloadable smartphone applicationYes, this does come with an Android/iOS smart app which allows you to firstly setup your camera through the One key configuration explained above. It is also designed for you to view the camera wherever you are around the country or even the world. With this being a IP camera is does allow you to view the camera using networking, whilst your camera is turned on it will always be connected to the network so you can view it at anytime and anywhere. There are many more functions you can do on the app like recording footage to the device your using, change passwords to access the account and camera, Firmware upgrades and my favourite function is the alarm setting which you can set to alarm you if any movement is detected, Great for a shop owner who wants a budget surveillance system. The alarm can be sent via email or phone notifications.• Security – Is this safe to use?Answer to this is yes defiantly, you hear about people hacking cameras around the world but just stop and think for a second, what haven’t hackers managed to hack into? Yes a very short list indeed. You should worry about someone hacking your camera as much as you worry about someone hacking your smartphone. This camera features account security which includes a password of your choice. Your camera information is only visible on the camera itself so setting up the camera manually is next to impossible unless you have the details written on the base of the camera itself.• Quality – Does it have high quality video? The camera offers 1280*720p display video quality which is HD resolution depending on your network speeds. Although this hasn’t affected me at all and the camera only uses 6kb/s which still brings me crystal clear imaging anywhere. It uses H.264 which is a video codec standard which can achieve high quality video in relatively low bitrates, this is the newest codec used in today’s world.• Good build quality –This camera is made from a hard plastic material and has a faint shiny glitter effect on it but is only visible if you look up closely at the camera. It does feel like it’s built to last and looks to of been built with care and precision.• Is recording easy –The IP camera offers the user to record in a few different ways, firstly you can use a TF card of up to 64GB and set the camera to record a 24/7 loop which stores all the video on the card which can then be viewed on your smartphone through the app provided. If you only want the camera to record motion detections then this is also possible, you will have an emergency email to say that your camera has detected movement and the camera will store the footage it recorded on the card which can also be viewed straight away through the app.Overall impression – This camera offers people a budget surveillance system without any unnecessary set-up fee’s and subscriptions. This is also great to be used as a baby monitor, keep an eye on your precious little one while you are in other rooms.

Started with 1, now got 8. They have changed my life!
I have written about 6 reviews in many years on Amazon so only do when I really love or hate an item. I can honestly say these little cameras changed my life. Here's why.I am reasonably geeky but no expert and if you ignore the instructions (written in the most hilarious chinglish) and follow these, it's easy. You cannot set up via WiFi.YOU NEED AN ETHERNET CABLE to set up a camera (but it doesn't need to stay connected)Download the app & connect phone to WiFiConnect your camera to power & connect your modem to the camera with the ethernet cableIn the app, under Device Management, click 'Add Camera' and choose via LANIt will detect the camera. You'll be prompted to change the password - the stock one is '888888'Go back to Device Management and click on your new cameraClick on WiFi settings. You'll be prompted to enter your WiFi password. You will be told to disconnect your ethernet cable, do it. The camera will reboot.Done! You are now all connected via WiFi and can unplug your camera from power and move it wherever you want. If you put a memory card in you can set it to record constantly (32GB card records about a week before overwriting automatically). You can choose to record sound or not. Or you can set it to record in response to movement. Night mode is great. Picture quality is very good. You can control the camera remotely to move around 360 degrees horizontally and 180 vertically. So why do I love these so much?1. They're cheap. I started with 1 and found it so easy I have bought 7 more. You can network up to 1024! All 8 that I own are accessed from the app on my phone.2. They have helped me support my family. I have 2 severely disabled family members. One finds it hard to use the phone, cannot move much and is very vulnerable to falling. So I am able to check up on them easily and the best thing is, I can speak to them directly through the camera. They can then give me a thumbs up or respond by talking & I can hear them. Two of the cameras are used as baby cams, I can check my baby is sleeping with the night mode in his room or when I am away for a few days I can watch him play as another camera is in his play area. I haven't spoken to him via the camera as I think it might freak him out to hear Daddy speak from the bookshelf.3. Security - again, my disabled family members have many people coming in and out of their house, most of whom are helping them. But we've had some thefts and were able to catch one of them using these cameras. Even though we didn't realise something was missing till a few days later, I was able to review the footage from the right day and present the evidence to police. I feel happy knowing we have recordings of everything happening at their home. And my family appreciate it and know that I am looking in on them occasionally. I've heard some people say they wouldn't like that, but these loved ones are very dependent and this brings some peace of mind. It's not all fantastic. The app is a little buggy and occasionally I need to exit and reopen as the camera freezes. The recording is fine, but the live stream glitches. But the value of money compared to other systems which don't offer push-to-talk or remote control is just incredible. These cameras are my favourite purchase from Amazon for years. And I have a serious Amazon addiction problem!
