Voltec 10-00486 Inverter Remote Control (Discontinued by Manufacturer)

I recently purchased the Voltec 10-00487 2000W Pure Sine Inverter and it has developed some intermittent issues with the power button not working all of the time to turn on. I read the reviews of this remote switch and was skeptical but was easier to try it than take the inverter apart and try to find a replacement switch especially since this is mounted in my service vehicle and gets used daily for work.The supplied wire harness plugged directly into the existing plug on the inverter and bypasses the factory installed switch for turning on and off. I do not know if they have changed the plug in the newer inverters or what exact models the others tried that had a different plug, but I am completely satisfied with this remote for my model inverter.

Very useful as an 'off / on' switch, absolutely not accurate (I bought 4 and they're all the same) for measuring battery capacity. I thought my solar panels had issues, maybe my batteries, called the electrician who measured voltages - said my batteries were at 12.7 = 100% but the top two LED's on these were out, showing only half charge. When the batteries are being charged, they will go full scale. If you want them for showing battery charge level, save your $$. They're good for showing how hard your inverter is working, and they display faults accurately. Overall, for $20, to save me climbing up to the battery/inverter room when it's nighttime - they were a worthwhile buy - reset them from the house.

This was the second one of these I had ordered, since the first one not only didn't power my inverter (which I should mention seems to work perfectly otherwise!) but the multiple lights & LED's that were on the remote didn't light up. Again, the same problem with the replacement... Not only will it not turn my power converter on, or off, but the multiple LED's which let you know how much current is being drawn, as well as the remain power in your batteries, not one of them worked... Not even one!! I really had high hopes for this item, but unfortunately, it appears to not have even been worthy of my interest!

I even looked up the model number to find the connector type and made sure it would work with my inverter and of course it did not. This control comes with the RJ 45 type connector, that is the same as an ethernet cord you would find on your computer. Of course the specified connector online and even printed on the packaging states that this is an RJ 11 type connector, trust me, it isn't.

I found a discussion on the web where it was said this part number would control a Vector VECO53D. I can assure you it will not do any function at all. It will not turn the unit on and or off. none of the lights will work. if you read the sellers statement on the web like I did save yourself money and dont order it for a VECO53D Vector unit. If you have a Voltec power inverter then get this controller! It showed the status of the inverter along with battery voltage although I found that part to be inaccurate it is still nice to have.

I bought this with the Voltec 2000 watt inverter. I use the combination in commercial truck. Unlike the other reviews I had no problems getting it to work. You just have to be careful when plugging it in. The display works well and lights are easy to see gives a fairly accurate reading. When off the power button is lit to make it easy to find in the dark. Overall pretty happy with it.

Easy installation and very convenient to see remaining battery life and charge status. Great price.
