Review: Good enough food for more than just emergency storage!! - The case I got from 123CloseOut was correct, genuine, of good date and sealed properly. Everything was as it should be. The meals are great, good variety. Each MRE comes with a variety of items besides the main dish like sides, snacks, desserts, drink mixes, gum, TP, wet naps, your tactical spoon... and a few other things here or there likes spices or hot sauce. The food is actually good, my kids WANT these over other food, camping or not. And.. with a grand total of 24 different meals (if you get case A + B), there is a good amount of variety. Forget the myths and rumors. The BIG reason I love MREs for hiking and camping is the self heating bag. Warm to super hot food in moments with no fire or stove, just a splash of water and a little waiting. You can stop in the middle of a hike and have a good meal with little fuss. Another great reason is all the stuff it comes with is great to munch on while on the move, and getting all the calories in ya that are needed for your trip. Each and every piece is sealed individually, so you can keep the kit in its main super strong sealed bag, or break down the kit to pack how ever you like. The down side for me is very little. I can only wish that each and every meal number came with a coffee kit, or five... not all numbers have one!! I also strip out some of the "extra" packaging when I pack, but that is not too bad of an issue at all.
Review: The Real Deal - After reading the reviews, I was on the fence, with placing an order for 4 cases (2 menu A and 2 menu B). I wasnt sure if these would be the true, real deal, MRE'S I was used to, after 10 yrs in the Marines and was worried about knock-offs or some other brand being sent. After 4 days I received my 4 cases and they are 100% the real deal. The cases were un-opened, banded and had all the proper markings and temp sensor. I verified that each case had the proper meals and even ate one just to make sure everything was up to par. Everything was 100% correct and real military issue. The inspection date is late 2013 and these should last, with proper storage, indefinetely. I am very pleased I placed the order with G&P Outlet and will order again. These are 100% the real deal!!!

## Questions & Answers

**Q: I would like to order a case but need to know the Manufacture Date on the Box. They have a 10 year shelf life, before the U.S. Military throws them out...I know.**
A: I can not answer that question, sorry. What I ordered were 2 sets of MRE Box 1-12 and 13-24 What I got was a random packed product with several repeated meals and short 1 meal. The seller had me return the order to resolve with a proper shipment. They choose to refund my order because they could not fill the order as advertised. What I was told is the meals come in all mixed up and they put 12 in a box and send them out. Sounds like pot luck and there may be many differences, in the set sent to me there were 2 different releases of the same meal with different packaging. I was told they would send me the correct order when I returned the bad one. They did not contact me to speak about the refund, they just refunded my money without consulting me. I did not find them to be easy to work with and I would not recommend them.

**Q: OMG, they look like repackaged MRE's from the 1980s. Does it include Chicken Ala King and Dehydrated Pork and/or Beef Patties?**
A: They look nothing like the MREs I ate in the '80s! They had a 4 pack of Winston cigarettes with each meal. I especially liked the John Wayne cookie.

**Q: are these 2014 meals**
A: Some of the packaging art was different which leads me to believe they are from different years. I think all of them are post 2007 but I'm almost positive they aren't 2014

**Q: This seller is engaging in false advertising and near fraudulent (if not outright fraudulent) business practices. This seller is advertising TRUE BLUE/100% legitimate military issued MRE's yet we (the buyers) are receiving nothing of the like (at least not most of us). So why is Amazon permitting this vendor to persist here?**
A: There are several manufacturers (at least 3 the last time I checked) of US military MREs, including Sopacko & Wornack. Mil-Spec isn’t a provider of military MREs, I’ve never even heard of them. Mil-spec is more of a term than an actual company. You can easily tell what year they were manufactured by the menus, and they should have a red dot inspection sticker on them, although occasionally I have received some that were fine which didn’t.

If you’re going to accuse someone of something, have evidence to back it up, and share your proof, otherwise no one is going to believe you.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ The best survival food is also convenience food
*by C***T on November 4, 2013*

The old military K-rations got a bad rap for being marginally edible, but more recently the US military has adopted the concept of force multiplier because they realized that if troops weren't eating adequately they wouldn't be performing at their full potential. So they planned the meals to be nutritious and tasty. OK some meals, like the omelette, are still a little difficult to get down, but most taste quite good. One carton contains 12 complete and separate meals, which reduces the risk of food fatigue. If you suddenly need to bug out, the carton is small enough to grab and go. Then there's the convenience of just heating them in a pot of water, or using the heaters supplied with the meals. I've cooked many MREs on the dashboard of my truck so they're ready to eat when I get back to camp. Saves me the trouble of setting up a kitchen, storing foods, and preparing meals, and I can dedicate my ice chest to more important things, like beer. MREs are not cheap, but they last for years. You can travel a lot lighter with these and will have less trash to pack out. Unfortunately, the packaging is plastic and can't be recycled or burned.
