BOOMco DKN81 Halo Covenant Needler Blaster Toy

My kid (14yo male) keeps this by his side 24/7. It really is a fun unit, and bigger than it looks on screen. The darts fly straight - but it takes a while to figure out how to aim this thing. That adds to the fun, but only so long as nobody takes a shot to the eye or the groin - and both are equally possible early on. I kinda recommend eye protection. And a cup.Why, you ask? Because these things hurt! A lot!! Maybe I'm just getting old, but I've learned to duck and cover when I see my son round the corner with this thing. While that adds to the overall fun factor, I must say no shooting the dog. The dog will bite you. Or at least eat your dart. Probably both.Speaking of darts, these darts have mass. They're not like the Nerf darts that are designed to ensure everyone is "perfectly safe" and elicit images of rainbows, unicorns, and little kittens. These beasts remind me of the kind of toys we had in the 70's, when consumer protection was sparse and survival of the fittest was the motto of the day. They are definitely designed to make sure you know when you've been shot and are possibly capable of taking down one of those prancing unicorns at 25'. They're great!!Moral of the story: you'll quickly learn to avoid being hit at close range. You should also learn to avoid being hit at long range, but hey, let's not get overly ambitious.All in all, seems solidly built and the fun factor is high. If your kid is a Halo fiend, this is a good buy. But get yourself something too. You don't want to be unarmed when this gets brought out.

Nicely detailed collectible, fully recommend for any dedicated fans of the Halo series that are interested in it. It included enough darts to fill both the cylinder and the top of the blaster. The darts on top light very well with individual LEDS, and two light settings. On the demo setting, all the darts light, before cycling out one by one. On the on setting, it lights all darts and turns them off one by one as the trigger is pulled, so as to simulate them being fired. It creates a beautiful effect and solidifies its place as a collectible showpiece for Halo fans.Functionally, the blaster is a pain to prime. Fires at decent ranges. The darts deserve praise for their ability to stick to the included target and only that or other BOOMco targets. The only unfortunate detail about the darts is that if any are lost or damaged, the only way to get replacements is to find a specific type of Halo branded BOOMco dart and target pack, as they are uniquely colored among BOOMco products, even among the other Halo blasters.

This gun is soooo much fun to shoot! My friends all ran for cover because these hurt if you aren't standing far enough. Be aware this thing has plastic tips so they shoot faster and harder than your average Nerf gun. It gets a bit annoying cocking the gun after each shot and after a while your hands will get sore because the handle is shaped strangely. Also, you can't really aim so it's more of a shoot-and-adjust kind of thing. In case you were wondering, you can't use nerf gun pellets as the nerf pellets are much bigger. I love that it lights up and let's you know how much pellets you have left. Re-charging is kind of annoying because you have to stick them into each of the eight slots one by one.

This collectible blaster works really well if you know how to use it. It's easy to break the mechanisms if not used properly. Speaking of the mechanisms, they're quite loud, but less so when used in rapid fire. This thing looks spot on for a dart gun, and it's pretty powerful. I do wish the handle was a tad more ergonomic, but I guess it *is* an alien weapon! I love the little target it comes with; the darts stick very well to it and bounce off of everything else. The lights on the top are a very good indication as to how many darts are left in the turret, as they turn off as the trigger is pulled. Overall, this product is very solid, and I would buy this again.

when I heard it was battery powered, I figured it was a slow-firing automatic, the way the actual needler in the game works. It instead is a lot more like the "needle charge rifle" (I forget which game), in that it fires one single, overpowered projectile. The amount of force this puts behind the dart is actually kind of impressive. I wouldn't call it a completely accurate reproduction of the weapon from the game, but in terms of nerf toys, it's a lot of fun! It has a particularly satisfying feel when it fires too.

This dart gun is a great product for many reasons:1. It is a Needler; that weapon you tried so hard to use and blow up your targets2. It is a powerful dart gun; this thing works just as well as any simple nerf gun I've owned3. It lights up and has three settings: semi-auto light turn off (every squeeze of the trigger shuts off a light), cascading light turn off (you pull the trigger once and it slowly turns off the 8 lights on top, one by one), and off.There are only two cons to this product:1. aiming is a little tricky, as looking down the top of the needler is a tad awkward and it doesn't go where I thought it would (with practice of course you can compensate; I usually hip fire now because it makes more sense)2. the needles don't track their target

Boom Co is definitely much higher quality than it's competitors. The darts go far, and don't hurt those around you at the same time. You get a great deal of value for what you purchase with these guns. I love the gun it shoots well and is hard core nostalgic. Only thing is that it arrived a bit banged up with some light scratches. Other then that it’s awesome!

For anyone who likes Halo this is just awesome. My son was over the moon with this. The needles on the actual gun are removeable and can be loaded, when you press the trigger they also light up pink to replicate the glowing needles as in the games. The only negatives are that it is a bit difficult to load - the mechanism is to push the butt of the gun forward and then back to prep a shot and my son who is 9 found it quite a stuggle to push and pull - with a bit more playing this might ease a bit. It's also deceptively big, but to me that it just authentic and good value for money. The only other issue we had with it was that the little bullets are NOT like Nerf darts. They are actually a harder plastic, still with a soft tip - but not soft enough to be shot with! It comes with a little target card to shoot, and I have to say I have banned my son from shooting people with this as I reckon it would bloody hurt! Still, as a fan of the Halo franchise, I just have to love this :)

La pistola es grande e impresiona a primera vista. Para recargar se debe jalar la pieza inferior de la pistola hasta escuchar un crujido (el cual me da miedo se rompa rápido) y la pistola es algo pesada, por lo que a niños menores de 7 años les podría costar trabajo jugar con ella.Los materiales se ven de buena calidad y la veo ideal para fotos o acompañar un disfraz, pero para juego he visto diseños más ligeros.

Bought this for my partner and she loves it. She’s a very big halo fan, I think this would be good for other fans too. When you click the button the needles light up and then one by one turn off. You shoot by pulling back the bottom blue bit. It looks really good in general

Bought as a gift for a big Halo fan.He loved it. Didn’t realise that the needles lit up when it was initially purchased so that was a very good surprise.The only (very minor) thing is that it is pretty loud when cocking the action to fire but that’s easily overlooked when you’re having so much fun with it.
