They offer an ideal amount of air resistance for easy control, and feature an accuracy of intonation you would expect to find only one more expensive models. Though other maker's plastic recorders may have a similar appearance, Yamaha ABS recorders are truly superior instruments. Models are available with either 'German' or 'Baroque' fingering systems. The 20 Series, easy to play throughout their ranges, are primarily intended for beginners. 30 Series recorders, which feature an arched wind-way for improved breath control and tonal expression, are for more advanced players. Is this exactly the same, or different in feel and tone?** A: I teach a recorder class for high school students and we have about 20 models of the ivory recorders and about 15 of the colorful 20BG recorders. For whatever reason, the coloful models do seem to speak a little bit more easily, but both set the bar fairly high for plastic recorders-- way better than any of the other models we've purchased, including the more expensive brown and beige 302B Yamaha model (which looks great, but is quiet and does not hit the low notes as easily as this model.) **Q: the description states it is made in the US, but what does the packaging say?** A: actually, on the bottom side, opposite of the first double tone hole, in tiny embossed letters it states "MADE IN INDONESIA". You might need a magnifying glass to see it clearly. **Q: does it come with case** A: It comes with a cloth draw string bag. **Q: Where is this made?** A: The instrument is made in Indonesia and the little carrying bag case is made in India. Yamaha is a very durable brand. ## Frequently Bought Together - Yamaha YRS-23 Soprano Recorder, German Fingering, Natural 1.00 x 2.00 x 13.75 - Essential Elements for Recorder Student Book 1 | Classroom Method for Beginner Recorder Players | Includes 130 Songs, Music Reading and Fingering Chart | Hal Leonard Instructional Book - Easy Recorder Lessons for Kids + Video and Audio: Beginner Recorder for Children and Teens with 60 Songs.
