Impressive
Your browser does not support HTML5 video. I'm really enjoying this camera so far. It's no GoPro, but it is certainly in the ballpark. Image quality outdoors is really fantastic and comparable to what my phone can do...except this is a tiny camera that can easily be mounted to pretty much anything AND has a hard protective case. This thing can go anywhere!Still photos are hit or miss, but I was able to get a few good shots. Definitely not what it is intended for. Nice to have the option, though. I can see myself using it in a pinch if I'm out on the trail and don't want to bother with my phone.Comes with a ton of accessories and mounts. There is a waterproof housing that works just fine. I don't have a pool anymore, but I think it will be fun to bring out to the lake this summer. Everything else is decent quality. Glad it also came with some velcro straps to mount on other items. The slow-mo video options are great, but make sure your camera isn't running hot at the time. I got some decent shots playing around with it in the backyard. Very cinematic. The timelapse also does a fine job. Just gotta consider the options of image stabilizing vs distortion correction. I found the image stabilization works just fine...wish I could use both at the same time, though. Distortion correction is passable, but not perfect.I used the 4k at 30fps (3200 x 1800) setting when using as a dash cam. Did perfectly. So much better than my actual dash cam at the same resolution. For the bike ride in my video, I strapped it down on my son's bike and set it to 1080p and 60fps. There is a noticeable difference in actual footage, too. 4k (3200 x 1800) has a lot more detail than the 1080p. Both are fantastic for what we need are looking for.So that's the point..We want an action camera to take with us anywhere in all weather. We also have a tight budget. After comparing this with several other cameras in the same price range I decided to go for the X30. It was a good decision! I am impressed with the video quality and all the different customization features. The touch screen is responsive and the menus are easy to navigate. Was able to view video on my phone through the built-in wifi connection and app. It's really great. If you don't want to break the bank and need an action camera...I don't think you can do wrong with this. We're going to be taking it on vacation with us soon. Really excited to get some good video to share with the family.

Good alternative to a Go Pro
I was skeptical. I have tried other non go-pro action cameras in the past. Right out of the box the feel of the quality was impressive. It feels like it is decently made. It came with 2 batteries that were charged. I immediately tried out all the features I was looking to use. I like shooting in HD and was looking for a camera that could do good time lapse videos organically. This camera does both very well. It can shoot 4k at 60fps. It doesn't have stabilization at that FPS. It does at 30fps. I do like the menu and touch screen. It makes it easy to navigate through the settings and change functions very quickly and easily. I find that with my older Go Pro I miss things by accidentally selecting the wrong function ( picture, video, setting). The camera also shoots at 20 MP for stills ,which is a bonus for me. The camera also comes with a waterproof case that looks to mirror the 1st Gen Go case. I haven't tried it yet, but they look like they may work with the older Go Pro accessories. I absolutely love the 1/4-20 female adapter on the bottom of the camera. This was a pleasant surprise. I tend to shoot a lot with tripods. This saves me from having to use an add on attachment.Things that I didn't like. The sound quality was not great. The sound is a little tinny. Without the case on ,the audio sounds like an action camera inside the old waterproof cover. I am hoping to remedy this by possibly using a wireless mic ( the camera does have wifi and comes with an app for your cell phone to view what you are filming) or seeing if there is another microphone adapter I can use.The other complaint I have is the camera's connections (Micro usb /Mini HDMI/ Mirco SD card) panel is exposed to the elements. I would have liked to see this sealed off or at least a cover over those to protect the camera from some of the elements ( dust and moisture ) .OverviewI think this camera definitely has a place in my camera stable. It shoots fantastic video and time lapse. It would make a great camera for action shots where audio isn't the main focus of the video. I know this might be a deal breaker for some. But you get good stabilization , 4k functionality , touch screen at a decent price.
