Very nice table
This is almost two years after purchasing. After two years of purchasing, I have to say it is a great buy. It does what I need it to do however after a year of light use, the legs got a little loose. Keep in mind that the wood is plywood and the screws will lose their tread more easy.

Ideal Table
I needed a small chairside table and this was perfect. Pictures here do not do it justice. It's beautiful, so much so that I actually ordered a second one! Fast delivery too. Easy assembly. Highly recommend.

Just what I needed
Works well for my needs

Color of finish not as pictured
The table is fine except for the finish. I needed espresso but this is definitely too light and so it doesnโt match any of the rest of my espresso furniture.

Not sure what everyone else seems to be talking about...
When my box containing my table arrived, I'll admit to feeling some trepidation upon opening it after reading further some of the customer reviews that I hadn't read when I purchased it mainly because it fit where I needed it to go. So, I found myself very pleasantly surprised when I saw not the first hint of particleboard, a very smooth, glossy black finish covering the entire table excepting the bottom surface of the bottom shelf, which was painted a lighter black and without the gloss. I am a 'lady of a certain age', so was concerned about being able to assemble it without help... Back when my father and I built furniture, we joined pieces with dowels and pegs, and fitted tongue and groove together. A friend recently assembled a tv table for me that everyone on here gave assurance as being 'simple to do, especially if you've ever put together anything from Ikea'. Well, I hadn't - I'm not at all sure I've ever SEEN anything from Ikea!, and the lock bolts for the legs that he demonstrated to me would still be in the middle of my floor had he not been far more savvy and up to date on the progression of furniture assembly techniques than am I. Yet... this little table was a breeze! From unpacking the box to setting it next to my sofa took under 20 minutes, working entirely alone. The company even included the correct Allen wrench for the main leg screws in the hardware packet, although they had put the washers and lock washers onto each screw in backward order, but that was easily corrected. I read here where one woman cautioned about the assembly of the bottom shelf possibly needing another pair of hands, and she was correct. I was lucky in that I had a cordless drill/screwdriver handy with the correct sized Phillips head that fit the included screws. But the bottom shelf has nothing to rest it upon while being attached, plus has not even any small starter holes drilled into it to 'start' the attaching screws. So I turned the table upside down, threaded the first screw thru the hole in the leg support, snugged the shelf up to it as tightly as the screw would allow by pushing upward on the shelf from below with my left hand, then very quickly (being sure to drill straight down so it would catch) I set the screw to hold the first corner. Without releasing any of my upward pressure on the shelf, I repeated these steps on the corner diagonal to the one I had just attached. After that it was simply a matter of attaching the other two corners. I did have to back one screw out completely and redrill it, as I had obviously gone in at enough of an angle to miss the shelf entirely. The screws are very short - they have to be, because if they were longer they would come out thru the top of the bottom shelf. Also...for those concerned about the strength of the shelf. I am a big girl...weighing over 200 lbs. As a test, I tried carefully sitting myself onto the top shelf, keeping plenty of weight on my feet while listening for any sound of wood cracking. Not only did it hold my partial weight, I was actually able to sit myself completely onto this little table, with nary a wobble! This is not a requested review, I chose and paid for the product myself, and in point of fact, I seldom take the time to write product reviews. I just hated seeing this little table get a bad rap. I would definitely recommend it as a purchase for your own needs, and would also eagerly purchase it again should the need arise. Great value for your money, especially in this day of cardboard 'furniture'!

Poorly Assembled Very Poor Quality Materials
Upon reading the reviews, I think it reasonable to suggest the following possibilities: (1) some people received different products than others; (2) some people do not know what they are talking about; (3) some people are not honest; (4)some people may have a vested interest in Crown Mark Furniture. Interestingly, some of the rave reviews are from people who only have one review to their name - this table. I posted images to verify the poor workmanship and the fact that particle board is used in fashioning this table. The table I received is, at least in part, made from particle board (the table top/shelf is either particle or ply). The side panels of my table are not finished on the bottom (underside) of the panel - the particle board clearly visible (see image). The leg panels are mitered, epoxied, and stapled together - not an enduring construction. On three of the four legs the staples are not countersunk resulting in an unfinished gap in the finish (see image). On the inner surface of the legs, apparently by design, the epoxy visibly forms a bead at the mitered joint (see image). Presumably this compensates for inexact mitering but replaces it with a gray stripe about 1/8-inch wide.My table came with a hairline scratch on the surface revealing a white surface underneath. What is interesting to me is that the finish is about one molecule thick - yes, an exaggeration but you get the point: it is thin beyond words. Undoubtedly this explains the cautions that come with the table, one of which is "do not use commercial waxes and polishes." (Only lemon oil or soap and lukewarm water are allowed) This caution urges the conclusion that the finish is subject to damage by petroleum distillates contained in many polishes and, in any event, the finish is terribly delicate. (For those of you who are stuck with this table, I would suggest a visit to your favorite building supply box store and purchasing two twelve-inch tiles (granite would look nice, e.g.) and place those atop the table (without cementing them in place). By so doing, you accomplish a beautiful, tailored surface that is bullet proof! Oh, another caution: maintain even humidity conditions in your home [to] prevent splitting. Why? Because one characteristic of particle board is that it is prone to expansion due to moisture. But wait, maintain even humidity but wash with water??? If water seeps into the particle board or ply, it WILL expand. Finally, I would ask, if this table is made from solid wood, why place a particularly delicate veneer/finish on it? Why not stain and varnish (urethane) it and bring out the grain of the wood and produce a more durable surface? Ah, because it is not solid wood so there is no grain to bring out. And another note, the bottom of the top and shelf are sprayed with a (gray) sealer - not finished; I have NEVER seen a wood coffee table or end table that was not finished top and bottom! Why did they not finish (veneer/stain/varnish) the bottoms? And why not use solid (wood) legs instead of epoxying/stapling flat ply/particle boards together? Note the veneer on the bottom (floor side) of the leg - why veneer an edge you will never see (see image)? Because it is particle board (or ply). Why did they not veneer (cover) the particle board edge of the side panel? Forgot, I guess.OK: this IS a particle board table that possibly has a ply top/shelf. The question remains, is it worth $35? I'm returning mine because of the visible defects. Being particle board/ply with a poor veneer/finish, I imagine the surface will deteriorate quickly with normal use so I would cover the top with 12-inch tiles and avoid hitting it with the vacuum cleaner or my foot. Still, spills (moisture) will pose a serious threat to the integrity of the joints/finish. In my home, this table would not last because, bless my heart, I am going to crash into it once and a while, or I will attack it with my vacuum, or bathe it with my coffee (which is rarely lukewarm).Even though it is only $35, I do not feel like pampering this table to ensure its longevity. Given its poor construction and the fact that it is not solid wood, I do not feel it would be $35 well spent. And if you have not noticed, in the product description, there is no mention of this table being made from solid wood - curious, eh? That to me would be a selling point! My conclusion about the reviews: (1) some people received different products than others; (2) some people do not know what they are talking about; (3) some people are not honest; (4)some people may have a vested interest in Crown Mark Furniture.Oh, and for those of you who anticipate buying this table, there is no need for a team or cardboard fillers or whatever to aid in the attachment of the lower shelf - which has puzzled some reviewers. Once the legs are attached, place the shelf in position on its supporting blocks, then lay the table on its side (long side or short side - does not matter); the shelf will stay (or can be held) in position allowing one person to screw it in place. And, to those who bewailed the fact that the shelf was not predrilled: it cannot be. The blocks on which the shelf rests are predrilled; simply thread the screw through the blocks and screw into the shelf. The shelf cannot be predrilled because, given the poor workmanship (inexact leg placement, e.g.), predrilled holes in the blocks and shelf would never align themselves properly.EdUpdate 07/31/2013: Amazon stated that, after I uploaded my images, they were being posted; they have yet to be!?Update 08/02/2013: Amazon still has not posted my images with their explanatory notes. I am wondering why.Update 08/05/2013: See the CommentsUpdate 01/05/2014: FYI, yesterday I purchased this Sauder end table at WalMart (Mainstays branded).ย Sauder Beginnings End Table in Cinnamon Cherry Finish ย It is 100% particle board, very sturdy, nicely finished, and only cost $12.95 (vs. Amazon's $29.95 price). I added a lower shelf by placing a finished board across the the lower rails.

Edge veneers arrived peeled off
Iโm a disabled senior and my recliner and its side table are the centre of my existence. When this table arrived, it took me about two hours to unwrap it. I looked it over tiredly and it seemed ok. I took me another two hours to assemble it. Thatโs when I discovered that the paper-thin veneers on the edge of the table top were not attached on their bottom sides โ just on the top edge where they met the table top. Iโm not going to wrap the table up and take an expensive cab to and from the post office to return it โ even it I could somehow get the box down to my lobby. So now I have to buy veneer glue and clamps online and try to make this table useable. Grrrrrrrr!

Great Side Table
Very impressed with this purchase! It was really easy to put together and itโs very sturdy. Well worth what I paid. It matches my coffee and end tables perfectly and it looks great with my sofa set. Much cheaper than other side tables I looked at and Iโm so glad I found this! Itโs exactly what I was looking for! I was a bit worried after reading the negative reviews but it arrived fast, in excellent condition and is perfect!

Very practical in a small area
This side table is the perfect size for our use. It fits between the sofa and a wall which has an electrical outlet which allows me to organize this corner as a recharge area for my media and phone devices and a deposit for our remote controls. I have my reading material on the bottom shelf. It is sturdy and blends with the rest of our living room decor.
