Audiosource PSW8 8" 100W Powered Subwoofer

I wanted a small subwoofer to fit behind my system in a shallow fireplace cavity (sealed up long ago) and this fills the bill perfectly.I formerly had an unpowered unit which I'd prefer but they're no longer made so I had to learn to make adjustments with the controls provided.I need to leave it on full time to avoid any possible click which can sometimes occur when automatically switching on. I'm not saying that this one does but another brand I tried before did. So I consulted with the AS rep who suggested this precaution - just in case.

The Audio Source Sub woofer, came right on time, actually ahead of Amazon's schedule. It was well packed and protected with copious Styro Foam fillings. I read the short manual and wired up my 18 gauge wire, around my front room. The initial sound was a heavy burst of bass. The bass response reproduction varied as to how the original piece of music was recorded. Some had excellent bass response, while others had mediocre to null response. Maybe also varying as the genre of music is selected. Example, I found the Smooth Jazz recordings I played supplied a strong hot bass level. The major beautiful feature about this Audi Source Sub woofer, is that you have the capability to the adjusting the bass response and volume level on the back of this unit to your preference. That was the main reason I decided to buy this Sub woofer. Overall the bass output is pretty awesome. I felt the floor vibrate in my bedroom, from the music played in my apartment front room.As a true compliment your stereo receiver system, you will not be disappointed.

Please,read this, I'm an audiophile and electronic freak, I'm surrounded at my house by probably the best affordable receivers and speakers. I don't usually write reviews. I have been looking for a good affordable sub on amazon to complete my bedroom surround with the Andrew Jones bookshelf speakers made Pioneer, I realized that the pioneer subwoofer costs around 150 dollars, after reading many reviews on dozens affordable subs like Monoprice, Dayton, Yamaha and the Polk, I landed on the Audiosource PSW8. This is absolutely ridiculous, I told myself someone has to tell the truth, the Audiosource and the Pioneer Andrew Jones subs are exactly the same, the only difference is the name tag. Don't let them fool you pay 100 dollars more just for the name. Save yourself a lot of money by just buying the Audiosource PSW8 and with the rest of the money, get two pair of the Andrew Jones made by Pioneer.

So after doing extensive research on 8" subs, I got this baby at an amazing price on Amazon. Sound quality is off the chains(after the break in period of about 75 hours). This is the EXACT same subwoofer as the Pioneer SW-8MK2 Andrew Jones Designed 100-Watt Powered Subwoofer  Pioneer SW-8MK2 Andrew Jones Designed 100-Watt Powered Subwoofer . Both subwoofers are made in the same factory(in China) and same assembly line. The only difference is the name branding on the front. SO, if you want to pay over double the price to have a Pioneer label on your Sub, go for it. Otherwise, this AudioSource PW8 is the best bang for your buck you can get at this price range hands down.

Received the sub and hooked it all up. Sub does not work at all. No power/nothing.

Read the other reviews, this is the Pioneer SW-8MK2. I bought it in November 2014 for $79.99 New and have used daily since then. Very well made and 100% as advertised. Very pleased!With the present price of $185 I would just wait until the price drops or buy another brand with a larger speaker and lower frequency response and auto power off.Rob_

Very Nice Subwoofer! Thinking of buying another one for the den!

This subwoofer is excellent. I added to a 38inch Vizio soundbar and it added the deep bass I was looking for and it seems to adjust perfectly with whatever media I am playing whether it is a movie, sports or music. This is made by Pioneer and Pioneer sells the same exact unit but is over a $100 more.
