I got lucky. I must have an old Rubbermaid mailbox because this replacement flag was a perfect fit. I was planning on having to do some "fabrication" but was I was pleasantly surprised. I wish some of my other projects would go this well!

It fit the hole exactly as described. Easy to install. But the flag is so short. It looks awkward, but I guess I will keep it.

Did you know that one of the USPS's requirements for rural mailboxes is that it must have a red flag in good repair? Sometime last winter, the red flag on my trusty Rubbermaid plastic mailbox got snapped off at its base, probably by a passing snowplow. So, this summer, I needed to replace either the mailbox or the flag. Since the mailbox is so strong and sturdy, and remains in perfect condition even after 20 years of use, I decided my best option was to replace the flag, if possible. Fortunately, the maker of the mailbox does provide replacement red flags, so, I ordered one.Removing the old flag base and replacing it with a new flag was very easy. I simply pried the old one off with a screwdriver and snapped the new one into place. It took me less than two minutes to complete the whole task. Now my mailbox once again meets all legal requirements.This is a very well-made flag that should last for many years. Highly recommended.

This flag just popped right in for me in our old Rubbermaid 7272 mailbox. I’m relieved to not have to buy a whole new mailbox! The only drawback is that it’s not as sturdy as the original. In order to extend its life, when I have something for the postperson to pick up, I position the flag so that it’s not quite vertical. In that way the postperson doesn’t have to push it very hard to put it back in the horizontal position. I recommend this flag!

The storm wind took flag off of the mailbox, this is it's replacement. With a bit of a push, it popped in. Thought I was going to have to buy a new mailbox.

While this flag does fit Rubbermaid post mailboxes, it definately is not made by Rubbermaid. It was nearly impossible to push this flag into the mailbox hole. I tried a hammer and a C-clamp to no avail. I finally looked at the original Rubbermaid flag and saw that there was a very small groove in the protrusion which is designed to fit into the mailbox hole. The idea was to allow the sides on either side of the groove to flex when being inserted into the hole. I took the replacement flag which had a solid protrusion and using a coping saw, I cut a similar grove into the protrusion. I then put the flag in place and smacked it once with a hammer and it immediately went into the hole.

Shipped quickly, came as described. Seems very sturdy. Snapped right into hole for old one.

Easy-to-use replacement flag for our mailbox. The item doesn't require any hardware, relying on a snap-in connection instead, and when installing it felt as if it were about to snap. Its performance and longevity in actual use remain to be seen. Price (at the time of this review, $8.99 Prime) is on the high side.Update:I've reduced my rating to One Star. After ten months in service, the flag is broken at the stem, found lying on the ground next to our mailbox.The Seller notes, "We build our mailbox flags using a high quality all weather ABS material so that after you replace your mailbox flag, you won’t have to ever again." Well, we have to purchase another replacement within the first year.Update No. 2The Seller reached out to us with respect to the purchase we made for a replacement, refunded us in entirety for the second purchase. That sort of Customer Service is much appreciated.
