Great for keeping lights above gutters.
I had gutter/roof hooks like these before...They were great and lasted years. Can use on gutters, roof edges, drip edges, and aluminum siding/covered soffits. The older ones were of a little thicker plastic construction but, I'm hoping the newer ones are of a more durable plastic and will last as long as older ones have!

Best clips for multiple types of holiday lights
Don't waste your time with the clips at the big box stores. They break after 1-2 years. These last forever.

First timer!
We bought our house 3 years ago, and is my first time owning anything that was possible to decorate properly for Christmas. I had virtually no idea what I was doing so I never bothered trying to put the xmas lights up properly, I would just kinda throw some things out there and hope for the best. Then I would drive through the neighborhood and see all the houses that were decorated well, and get really jealous...so I decided that this year was my year. I have a string of LED lights that have 16 different functions and the chord is as thick as your thumb, so I needed something exactly like this. I LOVE that it has multiple methods and it worked absolutely perfectly! The clips were very secure attaching to the gutter. I only used them over the garage so I'm not sure how they'd stand up clipping onto something other than that, but I'm very impressed with the quality and I have a ton left over. Thanks for helping me make my house the best in the neighborhood this year!!!

All in one is not the best solution.
These are decent quality clips, but there are a few drawbacks. For one thing, C9 incandescent bulb bases are quite different than C9 LED light bases. I'm not sure how these clips are supposed to hold the latter, but I did it as shown in the picture. I do this by crossing the ends of the clips, then squeezing the clip to open up to accept the base. After a hundred lights, the hand gets pretty tired of squeezing. The clips do not have a strong grip when slid underneath shingles. I'm afraid they'll come loose in strong winds. But the main problem is that the lights will be oriented different ways depending on if their are mounted on shingles or gutters. Mounting them on shingles, the bulbs can point away from the roof and up, or towards the roof and down (on sloped roofs anyway). When mounted to gutters, the bulbs point horizontally away from roof. What would be better is clips designed for gutters that point the bulbs straight down, and different clips designed for shingles, that would point the bulbs straight down. Actually, I could use a third type of clip, one that would hold the bulbs in the same orientation on places where neither gutters nor shingles are available.

Pricey, but durable
I thought these were a little pricey when I ordered them, but they are a good quality and I can see why the price is a little higher than some of the others I could have bought. They are much thicker and a better quality than the clips I am currently using.

They work
They did what they were supposed to do and that's all I could ask for. We'll see how long they last.
