LEC USA 1996 Burlington Northern Sante Fe Battery Operated Train Set

In my opinion this product is well worth the price. I purchased this for my 3 1/2 yr old grandson who is really “in to “ trains and hasn’t stopped playing with it. I wanted to get him a train set that was like a real HO set but I knew he was t ready for that. I didn’t want a set that wasn’t motorized. This set is very simple to use and he mastered it pretty quickly. That said it does work like an actual HO set in many ways. The plus is it is very easy to put on the track and the track is very forgiving in that even when the train starts to come off many times it will self correct without touching it. That isn’t to say it comes off the track a lot because it doesn’t. One tip for anyone having trouble. You need to make sure the tracks are fully connected , that is they connect flat. Otherwise you WILL experience an issue with detailing. Once I noticed that was the case I don’t think it had derailed on its own since unless of course my grandson decided to create his own “wreck” which he has done! Train seems to be pretty rugged even in the hands of an impatient 3 tr old I am very pleased with this product. Oh one more thing. When it said it’s powered by one AA battery I had my doubts but that’s all it takes and the battery lasts a long time.

We purchased from this brand before, so I knew they have cool battery operated train my son would love. I picked this oneBecause of the crossing gate. The gates go down as the train goes by, which is pretty cool. Set up was easy and they provided cool train stickers to add to it all. My main problem is the crossing gate. When the train goes on the outer track, it goes right into the crossing gate, causing the train to derail. It's just annoying to have a feature and not being able to use it

My 7 year old son has loved trains since hew as one. We assumed he would eventually grow out of his love, but he hasn't. Now at 7, he particularly likes trains that he has seen in our area. Living in the Midwest, we see BNSF trains in our area. He has always wanted BNSF trains. This set doesn't fit any of our other sets, and we have LOTS; however, as a stand alone small set, it is great. We didn't have any issues with the train derailing and everything worked as expected.

This train is so cheap I would return it if I didn't need it for my Grandson's Science Fair Project!!! He needs a demo for his project and since this had the track & train I thought it would be good. The tracks do not fit together smoothly therefore the train has trouble getting around it without "jumping the track". It has a incline & a switch area but the engine doesn't have enough power to get thru either one of these areas. I purchased it because of the video demo - beware the lies from this manufactor!!!

For the amount of money paid for this set, it is extremely cheap and I wish I could return it. The "engine" (part with the battery in it) is second so the first piece constantly gets stuck on all the little gadgets (bridge, railroad crossing sign, etc.)

Stopped working after very minimal use. Trying to return the item. We checked our batteries to make sure it wasn’t the issue but the battery was fine.

Not sure why there are some low ratings on this train, I just got one for my two-year-old son and he loves it. It goes together easily and it's nice to have a running train without having to plug into a wall. The train is easy to put on and remove from the track and it looks great. It is also good quality with pretty solid detail on the train design. I'm now looking to buy the other sets made by LEC. It's definitely not a "professional" model train, but for my young son, it is perfect. Quick assembly and easy to get up and running, my son can grab it and move it around without breaking.

I can’t build the bridge because both risers are exactly the same. Their needs to be a riser A and Riser B. The other one should have the “ sticking out” connection on the other side. See picture for reference to see how they both should look. My son would’ve loved the train set but we couldn’t build it correctly.
