Excellent account of the history of professional wrestling from someone who actually cares
Jim is quite clearly a massive fan of professional wrestling, as is evident from his spectacular UK based promotion "PROGRESS." The book is yet another piece of proof that Jim knows the business inside and out. If you are interested in pro wrestling, are a fan; casual, or fanatical, this is a great read! Even if you've got no interest in wrestling at all, give it a shot, you'll learn a lot!

Perfect book of westling history
This is an absolute gem. The author doesn't take himself too seriously but also isn't too corny with his humour. There has clearly been some deep research, particularly into the early years of wrestling, which I found most interesting being the period I knew least about. Overall just a really enjoyable and engaging read. The story of pro wrestling is a great one. Here's to the next chapter

Good and entertaining overview
Altough not a small book, this work gives a good brief overview of what is the history of the pro wrestling buisness. The author has a pretty easy to read style of writing and is very entertaining. The only flaw for me personally is that the book rushes pretty much through the early days to focus on the modern day stuff.A good read

A Love Letter To Pro Wrestling
There is a lot of wrestling literature knocking about for the avid wrestling fan to read nowadays, usually written by the pro wrestlers themselves or historians like Meltzer and Apter. However there's very few like this very book, written by Jim Smallman, a lifelong fan and 1/3rd of PROGRESS wrestling. If I didn't know who he was, I'd have been able to know how much he loves wrestling in the first couple of sentences. It takes you on a journey of the sports' history starting at the very foundations of the sport, all the way up to wrestlings newest and brightest. It's a ridiculously easy read, full of good humour and there are lists and all sorts. I'd recommend it to everyone from people who might only know of WWE, to the people who watch every independent show, you will learn something! I would give it 6 stars if Amazon allowed me.
