The C01U features a large 19mm shockmounted diaphragm efficient in reproducing both low- and high-volume sounds with equal articulation. The cardioid pickup pattern provides a smooth, flat frequency response. Capturing audio at 16-bit resolution up to a 48kHz sampling rate, the C01U offers the accuracy you need to be sure that what you hear is what you get.The C01U is essential for any level of musician, but its versatility can be applied to create audio solutions for anyone who records audio, particularly podcasters, educators, and business professionals.Music ManagerFor musicians, the convergence of computer and audio technologies has established the home/mobile studio as an alternative to the professional recording facility. Whether you re touring the country or experimenting in your project studio, the C01U sets the standard for integrating your computer into your recording experience. Review: Hip Hop/ Rap Vocals - Well I give this product a solid five out of five based on ability and the product itself over additional fancifulness, with the exception of a pop filter. When I say my review is on the ability of the product I mean it is on the out of the box ability, its raw ability so that buyers can get a feel of what it can do even without them having professional mixing and mastering skills. A raw recording (by raw I mean no EQ, noise removal, or anything else added) with this mic. sounds clear, crisp and professional even without being treated. I have a deep voice which means that some microphones do not pick it up very as they do with higher voices, but even so the microphone picks up every vocal sound clearly and even speaking as fast as possible to see if I could, dare I say, confuse the mic. it still picks up on every word. With testing with different voices, instruments and even against instrumentals this microphone does a wonderful studio quality job for a low price. Keep in mind that the only thing added was a pop filter( which is a MUST for any mic. in my opinion)which makes this mic a viable option for anybody at any level in recording. Now even though I have tested this mic. with singing, pod casts and instruments and it does perfectly I title my review to rap vocals because that's what I mainly bought it for and not seeing any reviews involving rap vocals I was unsure if I should buy this mic. Needless to say it does a wonderful job and is the perfect mic for anyone to own especially because of the USB portability. I give it a 5 out of 5.
Review: A very solid, high quality microphone. - A great microphone so far. Works with Audacity. I haven't installed Cakewalk Sonar LE that came with it yet. There have been some issues with my sound card, error messages about effects not being compatible with the mic. I just turned off effects. I've had to change the settings for sound a few times because of software conflicts, only certain applications were playing sound, others were shut off because of software wanting exclusive control over sound. But it's working fine now, and chances are it's the fault of my sound card. The poor quality built in sound card, Realtek High Definition Audio, is one of the reasons I needed the microphone in the first place. I couldn't get clean sound from it. This new microphone eliminates all the problems I was having with electronic noise from an analog mic plugged into the audio input because the analog to digital conversion happens inside the microphone, not in the sound card. I use the noise reduction function of Audacity to eliminate background room noise, and it's very quiet, as if I had a sound booth. The stand that comes with it is perfectly adequate for my needs, but it will also screw onto a standard mic stand. I also bought the Neewer Studio Microphone Mic Wind Screen Pop filter which clamps onto the stand.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ A very solid, high quality microphone.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Great mic, especially for a hobbyist or podcaster
*by A***S on March 19, 2018*

What can I say? I love this mic. I ordered this with the intention of using it as an open air live Microphone to capture rough demos of song ideas during various stages of my writing process. So far, it has lived up to my expectations. There's even a bit of a tape-like hiss (found in old Tascam Porta Studio machines) which I happen to love, because it adds to the roughness of the recording, but it's most likely present because I've got the gain set a bit too high. I don't care, I'm keeping it, at least for now. First thing I did was download Audacity, because it's free, and incredibly easy to work with. It's pretty much a 1:1 clone of Adobe audition (from what I recall of audition anyhow) the second thing I did was install the Asio4All driver, as was recommended by one of the other purchasers here. Supposedly that solves or helps reduce some of the supposed latency issues. I don't expect to do much overdubbing with this mic, so I don't know that it will effect me either way, but I'd rather be prepared just in case. Would I recommend this product? You bet. At $35 is a freaking steal, buy a few of them, especially if you're a vlogger, podcaster, or gamer/streamer, or just a musician on a super tight budget who wants to put something out for the world to listen to. That said: to my fellow musicians, don't buy this... I repeat, don't buy this expecting perfect studio sound. You will not achieve it. This mic has a sample rate of 16bits/44.1-48khz which is roughly CD quality sound. If you're looking for studio quality sound on a budget, you'd be better off getting a Focusrite Scarlett Solo, and a Samson C01 (xlr version of this mic) which would bump you up to 24bit/192khz audio and provide zero latency monitoring via the audio interface's on board headphone jack. However, if you're looking for a great "on the fly" recording mic, to capture live rough demos, or live performances for cheap, you can't go wrong here. And at $35 for one mic, this almost falls under the "drop in the bucket" rule. In short, buy this mic, especially if you've been eyeing a Blue Snowball, or a Blue Yeti, buy this mic. Just don't expect it to be the end of your quest for sound quality for the home studio. Treat it as what it is, a great mic for quick rough recordings, or spoken word stuff. And pair it with a good shock mount and pop filter, that will make all the difference too.
