The ferrocerium rod throws hot sparks in rain, snow, wind and at high altitude, so a wet match never ends your fire. It is an all-weather flint and steel fire starter built for the backcountry. **Q: How many fires can I start with one rod?** A: Each rod is rated for 15,000+ strikes, so you can light thousands of fires from a single ferro rod before it is spent. It never runs dry and needs no fuel or batteries. **Q: Will the rod rust if it gets wet or is stored for years?** A: No. The ferrocerium rod is rust-free, so it holds up to wet packs, humid storage and years in a glove box or bug-out bag without corroding. **Q: What is the handle made of?** A: A handle varies based on on type. You can choose from natural wooden handle that gives a sure grip that locks into a cold or wet palm or ergonomic grip on other rod handles. **Q: Is a striker included, and what else can it do?** A: Yes. A steel striker is included and based on the type our fire starters double as a bottle opener, ruler, tinder scraper, hex wrench and straight edge striker so you own one compact tool. ## Frequently Bought Together - The Friendly Swede Magnesium Fire Starter Kit 3-Pack — Flint and Steel Fire Starter Survival Tool; Weatherproof Firestarter for Camping, Hiking & BBQs; Flint and Steel Magnesium Bar; 6-in-1 Striker - 3M N95 Respirator 8511, Cool Flow Valve, 10 Pack, NIOSH-APPROVED, Advanced Filter Media For Easy Breathing, Comfortable For Long Periods Of Wear, Helps Filter Pollen, Mold Spores & Dust (8511PB1-A-PS) - ThruNite LED Flashlight Archer 2A V3, 500 Lumens Mini AA Flashlight with Lanyard, IPX8 Water-Resistant Dual Switch Outdoor Flash Light for Hiking, Camping, Everyday Use, EDC - CW --- ## Why Shop on Desertcart? - 🛒 **Trusted by 1.3+ Million Shoppers** — Serving international shoppers since 2016 - 🌍 **Shop Globally** — Access 737+ million products across 21 categories - 💰 **No Hidden Fees** — All customs, duties, and taxes included in the price - 🔄 **15-Day Free Returns** — Hassle-free returns (30 days for PRO members) - 🔒 **Secure Payments** — Trusted payment options with buyer protection - ⭐ **TrustPilot Rated 4.5/5** — Based on 8,000+ happy customer reviews **Shop now:** [https://www.desertcart.sc/products/2129700-the-friendly-swede-ferro-rod-fire-starter-15-000-strike](https://www.desertcart.sc/products/2129700-the-friendly-swede-ferro-rod-fire-starter-15-000-strike) --- *Product available on Desertcart Seychelles* *Store origin: SC* *Last updated: 2026-10-03*
