Two remote system possible
Recently the remote for my 22 year old Hunter remotes stopped responding to requests for the lights to turn on and off. We had one wall switch remote and one loose remote that were part of the older Hunter 27185 line. I spent weeks looking for information on new options to have this same remote control options as Hunter discontinued the old remotes for their Original (USA made) fans. I ordered this system as the Amazon showed the product has the Hunter model 27185 model number and dip switches. That photo is wrong so if that is what you are looking for, good luck. It has been discontinued. This is the newer EZ Pair system and will not work with the older remotes and receivers. At first I did not think this would work for me but I found the Casablanca 99195 wall switch remote that capable of being paired with the Hunter labeled 99119 remote and receiver. They work together perfectly and my system is up and running. Although there is a hunter version of this remote, they are not currently available (Covid-19 related ???).This unit works well in a new or old fan with pull chain operations. Just follow the directions. You have to pair the remotes separately from one another if you are pairing two remotes. Turn on the break and connect one remote. Once it is tested and working then turn the power off and back on to pair the second remote. It did not forget the first one.I would rate higher if Hunter had information on options for these systems but they don't and leave you to learn on your own.

Ok but not as good as the original
I purchased this remote to replace the original hunter remote that i got about 10 years ago. Visually, it appears identical to the original remote, but there are a few differences.First, the battery compartment. The original remote just slid open and took a 9 bolt battery. The weight of the battery gave the old remote a nicer hand-feel. The new remote (the one on sale in this listing) uses a little button battery which results in a significant weight reduction. It just feels cheap, imo.More importantly, they have decided for some unknown reason to add a small screw which holds the battery compartment closed, even though the slide-open mechanisim is unchanged. I am not a weak, incompetent person, but there was no way that i could get that little screw out manually in order to put the battery in (the unit did come with a battery, but it was not installed on arrival). I turned it over to my contractor who happened to be remodeling my bathroom, thinking that his power tools would get it out. He had so much trouble with it that he suggested drilling the screw out. After taking it home with him he was eventually successful in getting the screw out. Seriously, hunter fan - lighten up on the screw tightening a bit. I put the battery in & the cover has stayed securely in place for 2 months without that goofy screw. The button action on the remote has changed. The old remote had a subtle "click" that told you that the button had registered. This remote has no "click", so im left wondering if it knows that i hit the button. This leads to watching the fan to see if the speed is increasing/decreasing - a waste of time and inconvenient if you are using it in the dark, like at night in bed. Just put the click back. Finally, they have changed the bracket that holds the remote to the wall/light switch. The old one held the remote firmly in place. The new one allows a wide wiggle from side to side - the remote does not feel secure in the bracket. In short, technically this remote gets the job done. Its just not as good as the old one.

Beware if you're going to use more than 1...
Summary: Good physical design & quality. But the new wireless pairing behavior is AWFUL in some instances (my experience written up below - I'd expect I'm not the only one that has this issue). The story: I bought 2 of these to install with 2 new fans - I picked this remote to match an older Hunter remote that I already had, even though its a bit pricey... Upon opening the kits up I realized this new design doesn't have the small dip switches anymore (in both the remote and the fan switch) to set the wireless frequency band like the older remote does - instead, they have an automatic wireless pairing. The automatic pairing seemed nice at first...After installing both new fans with their respective remotes in adjacent rooms, I noticed that BOTH REMOTES CONTROLLED BOTH FANS - the fans couldn't be controlled independently at all - you'd always be changing the fan in the next bedroom... To figure this out, I had to dig into an online manual (http://www.hunterfan.com/getattachment/937ef4aa-e948-45fe-9cac-80c29c392ecc/MultiplePlatformRemotesEnglish.pdf) which gave me some bad news: In order to override the default behavior of "all remotes control all fans" I had to unwire 120V wall power from a previously paired fan/remote while I did the pairing procedure on the next one... The EVEN WORSE news was that since I had already got the fans into this state that the only way to "clear the memory" was to cycle power at my breaker box 12 times for each fan while the other fan was disconnected from 120V power in the wall... which was ridiculous and time consuming...Overall, If they'd just kept the dip switches like the older remote none of this ridiculous procedure would've been necessary. Even if I hadn't needed to clear the memory and cycle power, I still would've had to immediately disconnect 120V power from a newly installed/paired fan in order to get 2 independently functioning fans/remotes (because the fans shared the same breaker). So the product works. Its fine. But I will forever hold a grudge against whichever engineer (or more likely product manager) at Hunter decided that disconnecting wall power and cycling breaker switches was a better customer experience than flipping a couple dip switches.BEWARE if A) you're buying more than 1 of these and B) were confused by any of the stuff I just described.

Easy install!
I had a hunter fan with a built in receiver that failed. Bought this unit and studied the wiring instructions. Took leap of faith and cut the wires between the receiver and fan... Easily replaced with this unit. Worked like a charm!

Works great!
I just wish the fan I bought came with a remote. I’m glad I have it now. Remember to buy a remote if you’re buying a Hunter fan.

Make sure it fits!
I bought this to replace a 99127 remote, AFTER, Hunter told me it would work. It did not. The 99119 has one neutral lead less than was on the 99127 remote.Check carefully for compatibility.
