Every boat should have this
I wired this independently of my two bilge pumps, with it's own wiring and fuse, and even ran it directly to a different battery than my bilge pumps... so it should be a really good backup system. When you switch it off it cuts current, and hasn't drained the battery at all, so you can wire it directly to the battery for relatively foolproof protection (both my bilge pumps are also direct to the battery, which is ABYC code, I believe). It works really well, it's small so it's easy to find the optimal mounting location, and the sensor isn't mechanical, so it should be more reliable (I hope!). It's also fairly loud (and I think you can even wire it to a larger speaker or whatever). I didn't measure the loudness but if you're 100' away you can hear it fine when you test it. I mounted the switch under the gunnel in a somewhat exposed location (when it rains sideways or in really rough seas it does get a little wet), but I sealed all my connections, and it's been solid all along. So far it's been great, and it's very cheap insurance!I've owned several other boats and never had one, and now that I got this, I'm wondering why I didn't get one sooner. It's an easy install, and well worth it for the peace of mind.Edit: 2 years later it's still working fine. This past spring I filled the back of the boat to double check my height adjsutment on the unit and to see if it still worked... went off exactly when i thought it would. Great little unit.

Somewhat easy to install, loud alarm
I read the other reviews about difficulty installing the alarm and how it’s not very loud, but the company must have fixed the problem because this works great.

garbage,
the wiring instructions were incorrect, the switch was depicted as a 3 wire switch it had 2 wires. the wire color coding was not any help at all. I wasted 3 hours trying to find the correct wire diagram on the web but non were to be had. in the end I had to wring it out with a DVM and hope for the best. The audible alarm was only usable on 12 volts, when connected to 24 volts it failed, while almost all of these audible buzzers operate from 3-40 volts they used a third rate buzzer instead. One of the buzzers was missing its lock nut and was loose in the bezel. in the end I ordered new audibles from Amazon from another supplier to finish the installation.

Easy install
I installed this in my 28’ sailboat bilge area. Coast guard requirement. I installed the small control panel with buzzer assembly in the galley. I had to purchase additional wire. It did however come with water proof butt connectors good quality ones. I previously bought the Ancor crimpers wich are needed. They were good quality as well. Please do not use regular electricians crimpers they will compramise the water proof conection

Works as advertised
The alarm arrived with the wrong sensor and wiring instructions for the two wire sensor. After reading several comments regarding the issue I wired the alarm and sensor. Everything works well. The siren is loud enough to be heard over engine noise. The light is clearly visible. The three way toggle switch is sturdy and looks good on the instrument panel. Worth the money so far.

Professional Look. Great Product
Smart switch works when water touches and grounds out to make alarm go off there are two buttons you can push to manually test. This is designed to be only an alarm ONLY! I hooked up a separate float switch and pump 1500 gh to help if I had a high water issue that the bilge pump would not take out. Buys you more time. This was installed on a 2004 Beneteau 473 that did not have an high 💦 alarm ⏰. This will give you peace of mind. I tested the alarm while I was sailing and I could hear the shrill of the alarm while in high winds and actually sailing at 8 kts.

Works Great but wiring is mislabeled
This high water alarm works great once you figure out the wiring is labeled for a 3 wire switch. One of the black ground wires is not used, white wire goes to brown on switch, and red wire goes to brown with white stripe on switch. I like that their is a spot you can put 2 fingers on switch to test system.
