The Yamaha Stage Custom Birch 14x13 Floor Tom in Honey Amber features all-birch shells with thicker ply and rounded bearing edges for a fuller sound. ## Description

Continuing on the success of the highly acclaimed Yamaha Stage Custom series comes the new Stage Custom Birch (redesigned for 2014). Already considered to be among the best drum sets in its class, the new generation Stage Custom Birch has received several significant upgrades. Yamaha upgraded the shells with the same thicker ply concept used on Live Custom and rounded the bearing edges for more head to shell contact, which provides a fatter sound. Additionally, the shells contain the Absolute-style lug (typically found on Yamaha’s higher-end kits), die-cast claws and new bass drum spurs, a ten-lug snare drum, a beautiful badge, new tom depths, and a brand new Pure White color option. Ideal for beginners and pros alike, the Yamaha Stage Custom Birch provides high end Yamaha quality at a great value. This product is a Floor Tom; 14" x 13"

Review: Great drums for the price with a few updates - This review is for the 12” rack Tom, 14” floor and 20” kick, all in natural finish. While overall very happy with the construction and sound of the Birch shells, I made the following updates: lubed up the lugs (Latin Percussion makes a great lube), and changed out the flimsy stock heads (Emperor batters, clear Ambassador resonants on the toms, and Evans EMAD2 on the kick, my personal taste). Added nylon sleeved tension Rod washers for better tuning and less metal on metal, and upgraded the hoops to 2.3mm for more mass. The result is a great sounding, responsive and gig-worthy kit. Still a bargain even after the updates!
