Make sure lock is mounted on door and thatthe door is opened away from the door frame.2. Insert the key that currently works with the lock, see figure A.3. Rotate the key 1/4 turn to a horizontal position.See figure B.4. With the key in the horizontal position, insert theSmartKey tool fully and firmly into the SmartKeytool hole. See figure C. Then remove theSmartKey tool.5. Now, keeping the key horizontal **Q: Can you key all locks to use the same key?** A: Each SmartKey lock can be re-keyed to any SmartKey key - if you buy two re-keying sets, you can key all of your locks to one set; if you go out of town, you can just re-key one lock in your house to a different set, then give one of those keys to your neighbor/house-sitter. Then when you get home, re-key it back to your keys and the key they have will no longer work! **Q: Is Smart key technology a system that is used by different door lock companies, I have a Baldwin lock with Smart key technology is this the right kit** A: Yes. Baldwn and Kwikset are both owned by Black and Decker and they share the SmartKey technology. This kit will work to rekey a Baldwin lockset with SmartKey.See the following review for more information:http://www.amazon.com/review/R5G6FH5RAAKPD/ref=cm_cr_pr_viewpnt#R5G6FH5RAAKPD ## Frequently Bought Together - Kwikset 83262-001 SmartKey Re-keying Kit - SUMMIT DOORWARE Smart Key Learn Tool - Perfect for Kwikset Deadbolts - Easy Rekeying - Essential Locksmith Tool - Kwikset 96900-381 690T 15 SMT BBPKG Satin Nickel Tylo Entry Combo Set --- ## Why Shop on Desertcart? - 🛒 **Trusted by 1.3+ Million Shoppers** — Serving international shoppers since 2016 - 🌍 **Shop Globally** — Access 737+ million products across 21 categories - 💰 **No Hidden Fees** — All customs, duties, and taxes included in the price - 🔄 **15-Day Free Returns** — Hassle-free returns (30 days for PRO members) - 🔒 **Secure Payments** — Trusted payment options with buyer protection - ⭐ **TrustPilot Rated 4.5/5** — Based on 8,000+ happy customer reviews **Shop now:** [https://www.desertcart.sc/products/2214838-kwikset-smartkey-re-key-kit-for-kwikset-smartkey-locks-only](https://www.desertcart.sc/products/2214838-kwikset-smartkey-re-key-kit-for-kwikset-smartkey-locks-only) --- *Product available on Desertcart Seychelles* *Store origin: SC* *Last updated: 2026-10-28*
