Awesome controller.
The install was so straight forward and so easy. It was literally plug and play. I spent more time modifying my monstrosity of a smoker so everything fit how I wanted.

This is really the controller my grill should have come with in the first place
I've owned a Traeger Junior Elite for a couple of years and I've grown frustrated by its tendency to flame out during long, low-temp sessions and its frequently 100+-degree fluctuations in temperature. I read about PID controllers and decided it was worth a shot.Installation was challenging. The original controller the grill came with only labeled the wires by color and the small amount of space given to work with made the wires hard to identify. Eventually I went online and discovered that Traeger grills all have standard colors for the wires -- information I think would have been helpful in the installation guide. It also took me a little bit of time to work out how I was supposed to mount the controller and the instructions, despite being pretty thick, didn't explain this point. Unfortunately, I have also not been able to get the wifi to work and the folks at the company weren't able to figure out my issue either. I skipped the installation of the RTD probe and stuck with the stock one. This doesn't seem to be causing me any trouble, so I will probably leave it that way. These challenges aside, I've now used the grill with the new controller for both high- and low-temp cooking, and it is leagues better than the original. While I did not quite see the promised 5-degree threshold (I would get occasional spikes of around 20 degrees, although for quite short periods) and the performance was far better than before, I didn't experience any flameouts (something the old controller did not once manage for me during low-and-slow cooks). Besides that, my grill is rather small and I am using it in the Massachusetts winter without any extra insulation, so I think I am subjecting the controller to a particularly difficult task.I also like the probes a lot -- this is a convenience I didn't have before.Overall I'd say my money on this unit was well spent.

Made a big difference
I have a Traeger pro 34 that had some substantial temperature swings. I installed this controller with a 2 rpm auger thst they sell and it has been a game changer. Very stable temps. Seems to get up to temp a lot faster with this combination and it feathers the fan when at temperature in combination with auger activation to maintain typically within 5 to 10 degrees. Great product.

chintzy.
I expect better quality from China and usually I get it. Is this what "Made in USA" has come to? First off, when I unpacked it there was a broken connector on the RTD. I was compelled to not use that RTD because its connector wouldn't fit through the holes in my grill and I didn't want to drill, so I used the one that came stock on my Traeger. The front faceplate required an adaptor that came with the unit. At least that adaptor is solid and made of metal. The rest of the device is way-thinner-than-it-should-be plastic. The front face is a plastic film which you push buttons through. I've never been fond of those as that plastic is usually the first thing to break. The first time I mounted the device it bound the - button in a funny way that gave me problems, but I readjusted the thing and now that works OK. The Android app seems unable to set the temperature of the device; in fact, it seems to be unable to command the device at all. At least it can receive data from the device. To be honest, I could do a better job making a controller in my garage. This device is no bueno. I wanted WIFI capability on my Traeger, but was more-or-less forced to buy this because my Traeger's controller bit the dust.I am very tempted to make my own replacement. Considering what I paid for this and the crap quality of it, I'm sure if I were to make one I'd be able to sell it. Considering doing that too.
