Works pretty well, but wish it blew harder. Big price tag, but does the job
$3,000 purchase for our shop. I loved it. We have a huge shop, over 35,000 sq. ft. Doesn't cool the whole thing, but helps with about half of it. I would say this would do the job for 15,000 sq. ft. I have three for 35,000 sq. ft.

Have to have water flow perfect for it to work!
Don't let the cardboard filters get completely saturated or it will feel like you are in the amazon!! Barely wet them and cut water off allowing air to blow over partially wet cardboard works best. Water will begin to smell stale and mildewy after a week... add small amount of fabric softener to help smell.

Good machine for cooling my 3000' auto restoration shop
Good machine for cooling a 3000' shop, but does make the room more humid after being on for a few hours in the 100-110 degree Valley heat. I am glad I bought this, but if I were to have a chance to do it again I think I would opt for an air conditioning system instead, but since I rent there was no chance for that. Had an offer for a break-even sale the other day, said SORRY, I still need this unit for the hot summers!

great a/c unit
This evaporative cooler really displaces the air in our shop and cools it down quickly.

Feels like the amazon jungle if your not directly in front ...
Feels like the amazon jungle if your not directly in front of fan. The extra humidity it produces is almost unbearable.Do not buy this unit if you have high humidity in your area, it will not work properly and actually make things worse.

It works, but not very well. Please read and consider the comments before such a large purchase.
For the price, your better off with a dedicated A/C unit. Where I live, the summers are a little humid. The Port-a-cool works off of evaporation of the water that runs across it. When water evaporates, it loses heat. Today, actual air temperature outside, in the shade, is 101°F. The air temperature coming out of the port-a-cool is 96°. Ambient relative humidity is 73%. There are days when the humidity is lower-and the unit works a little better. But by the time you figure in the cost of the water + the cost of the electricity that is used in operating the unit, then figure in the fact that unit ADDS humidity to the "conditioned" air, you are MUCH better off with a dedicated air conditioning unit, especially in the more humid climates. A dedicated A/C unit actually removes moisture from the air, which makes the conditioned air feel more comfortable. For these reasons, I feel like I wasted a lot of money on the Port-a-cool. I will be selling the unit as soon as possible and installing a dedicated air conditioning unit.

Excellent but adds A LOT of humidity.
Works well in cooling our 8800 sq ft warehouse with 23' ceilings during the hotter months, but adds quite a bit of humidity.
