Great radio. Easy use of Internet and DAB and clear, quality speakers ( though stereo is not really of great value given the distance between speakers)Cannot comment in durability, but a reliable manufacturer.I bought for travel. Well worth every penny.

Decent sound and great radio stations to be found . Plays 24/7 in my lounge. The downside is that it sometimes loses connection with the mobile phone that has to be used sometimes is lost and can't be restored. Also 20 slots to save stations is too few. It also devours batteries when on battery power (tip: use a power bank)

I like a radio in my bathroom when I'm getting ready for the day. The radio I had was a dab radio but the sound was not very good or clear and my hearing is not good partly as a result of going to loud rock concerts in my younger days. I needed something I could hear clearly, so I took a punt on this which was a new item without any reviews, although the specs looked good. The sound is great so it does the job in that respect. As an anti-woke person I listen to Talk radio, but it could not receive it by DAB as the DAB signal for that here is poor, although my other radio could receive it intermittantly. Not to fear as this is where its high tech features come in because it was easy to find as an internet radio station and the signal from that with our reasonably fast wireless broadband is very good. If you want to spend time looking there is every station you could want on the internet that are available to this radio. The only downside with the radio is the small size and capacity of the battery for a radiowith so many power draining features and a 4 Watt sound output. To overcome that I bought the largesst capacity powerbank I could find as I have no mains in my bathroom. This works well to charge the radio, but when plugged in and the battery is fully charged the radio won't switch on, so once it reaches that point I unplug it and all is fine until the battery runs out, then I plug it back in it works while charging, that is a bit of a faff but for me its wofth it to have a radio that I can hear clearly. As a rough guide using internet radio, which is probably the most power draining option I think the battery lasts for about 2 hours. The radio doesn't have a dedicated mains connectiom; all the power input is via the battery or a usb mico connection. I don't think it works with the usb plug/transformer supplied connected when the battery is fully charged either and I would think that is a software issue, but if that is the case its not really a mains/battery operating radio. I did try using it with the battery removed, but it doesn't work at all like that.

I love this radio. It has great audio quality, it easy to connect to the Wi-Fi. Initially I found it difficult to store stations in the favourites menu from memory 3 onwards but after finding an instructional video on YouTube all was OK. Perhaps some attention to the instructions regarding storage on favourites 3+ would be a good idea but nevertheless I am thrilled with this radio. I am now listening to stations in my favourite musical genres from the UK and USA before packing it away for my wife at Christmas

Received as a gift around five months ago, this Silicon Frontier portalradio has dab(+), fm and internet radio choices. There's an option tolink to a spotify account and you can beam in other audio media, via thebluetooth option. Though not outwards, to other devices.Plastic cased without a handle, it is still re-assuringly portable,weighing 650g and measuring 235L x 112W x 54D mm. There's a telescopicaerial for dab and fm, a headphone socket and a 5 volt usb input forpower/charging. Its supplied with a 1050 mAh 3.7v BL-5C battery (moreusually found in a push button mobile phone). So you could purchaseothers as back up. A single charge running internet radio lasted a goodfive hours.It has 20 presets per function, plus a clock and alarm setting. Theclock 12/24 hr format may be displayed in standby mode if desired andthe display can be dimmed. The alarm may be set as a buzzer, or to any ofthe three built in audio sources.Living on a hill, dab/fm reception is usually good. However dabreception on the Le Mega IR4 is poor. Extending the aerial to its full53cm and pointing it to the correct location ensures it will locate alldab stations, but after siting the unit in a desired position, it willstruggle and choice become limited.Many dab stations are mono broadcast, including Radio 4 extra andAbsolute Radio. Even my local commercial station is stereo on fm andmono on dab. Internet on the other hand, is superior. The vast majorityof internet stations are stereo and often the broadcast quality is farbetter. Hence poor dab reception can safely be ignored.Internet is set up in a similar way to a computer. The unit uses asoftware wizard to guide you through. There is an option for the radioto 'stay connected' while you are listening to another audio source,though this will consume more power. Another useful option is 'audioquality' on internet. The ability to vary this, can help your 'cappedmonthly internet data allowance', if you have one.Going by experience with other radio portals (the door to any number ofpotential internet stations), these Silicon Frontier chipped radios havea lot more station choice to offer than some other radio makes.Arguably, you will get the best from a computer, which can connect toany number of portals. But then with an internet, or smart radio as theyare now termed, you have no need for a computer and many internet radioshave better sound.You can search internet radio stations by location, by type ofbroadcast, or by keying the name of a station. eg. Always Elvis. I havewasted much time with a smart speaker assistant in the past, requestingparticular stations, that cannot easily be pronounced. The radio is afar easier interface. Podcasts may be found and this unit picks up theBBC listen again programmes, now known as BBC Sounds.You might want Christmas radio for example.... it is hidden in thecategory 'holiday radio'. Many internet stations lack adverts and I seekthese out, as there is nothing worse than selecting a seemingly obscureradio station, only to get an advert from your local car sales garage,in an ad break.Sounds very promising, though spoiled as I am in alternative internetradio use, there are some limitations to the Le Mega.1. No audio equaliser settings. (tone controls in old money). A bittinny sounding.2. The main volume/selector control knob is smooth, slippery and small,requiring great patience when making selections from a list.3. Low impedence headphones will sound rough from interference.4. There's no auxilliary input/usb stick media player.5. Poor dab reception.6. No remote control, which makes keying in things longwinded.Mine jumped off the internet a number of times in three months, usuallyresetting everything in the process, including forgetting the wifikey... groan. It has since quietened down, but carried out a number ofsoftware updates in order to achieve this and it still arbitrarilyresets from time to time. for no reason.It will run on a USB power lead, or the removable battery. Oddly, if the radio is switched off before the charging lead is plugged in, it won't start charging until switched on again. It also struggles to play and chargesimultaneously.Given the above, I'm not sure how long I can continue with this unit andwhether a replacement would be any different. If I retain beyondguarrantee then I will improve the volume knob, either with a largerone, or I will coat with something to make it a firmer grip. On balance,it is a very inexpensive introduction to internet radio, if you can livewith its foibles. Alternatively, your money might be better spent on abetter quality second hand alternative.

Fantastic bit of kit great 👍 nice I have not had a problem with batteries as so many people have said l have been using rechargeable batteries that can easily be recharged on a battery charger 😀 very nice sound i am still trying to find BBC sounds though I'm sure i will get there in the endGreat bit of kit 👌

Internet set up relatively easy and worked as described. Cannot comment on DAB as there is none in my location. FM works but impossible to set more than two presets as when button is pressed to assign a number it just switches off. Was prepared to accept this as really only wanted internet radio function. Internal battery lasted only 3 months before failing to charge and though I have 4 new AA batteries in the battery compartment these don’t power the radio. Complete rubbish.
