Great for ESXI
This is my 1st true server build, and was fairly painless. I have built other PCs and used PCs for servers, so I guess I know enough to get the job done. As with many AMD builds a motherboard flash was required to run the latest CPUs. I installed the pike 2008 RAID card in the board as well with no issues. With ESXI 5, driver installation was automatic.Fan options can get a little confusing, most AM3 fans work. The C32 fans are built for rack setups and can get very noisy. The board comes with optional brackets to use AM3 fans with single bar lever latch. No X-brace type will work I believe. The 2 Opteron 4280s and 32gigs of ECC ramm(memory is so cheap right now), hardly break a sweat with 5 server OSs running at the same time(2 windows and 3 linux).I fully expect this server to outlast every PC connected to it. I am looking to build a 2nd of these servers real soon.

For the experts
Simple item but was too difficult for me to install. Wish there was a manual that came with this to describe each part.

"Supported" features not actually supported
Hardware RAID 5 flat out does not work on this board, even though it is supposed to be a supported feature. We bought 2 boards for 2 identical machines specifically for RAID 5, and both have the same inability to use Hardware RAID 5. After spending 5 hours on the phone with unhelpful tech support (who would frequently disconnect and never call back by the way, so I'd have to talk with someone new all over again), they have no resolution.

Good
Hi I bought a ASUS KCMA D8 board which has a SR5670 chipset. The fact is that the server has crashed several times the entire system, having to make hard reset actions.Updated the BIOS to the latest version, found in the menu "boot -> Hardware monitor" the temperdarura of this chip rises to nearly one hundred degrees and the indicator shown in red. They have installed a fan has this chip in particular and the situation persists.Request your cooperation indicand as I can handle this situation,As a side note the board was purchased on Amazon and fetched to Bogota Colombia.

Most upgradable board ever
Running two different processors (4-core(8) + 3-Core(6) = 14Threads) with different speeds and clocks and it's rock solid. Purchased 2nd cpu years later... Gaming, development, nothing brings it down. Only complaint is RAID is meh, using Rocketraid 4321 from 7+ years ago and it's still better. Still have 4 memory slots to fill running 64GB already.

Does what I need it to do.
This was the best choice for what I wanted to build. It is primarily a server motherboard. But i'm using it as a workstation board. That said, it worked great after a BIOS update. If you're looking for a good AMD workstation board this will cover it.

Works for nearly a decade
Long term owner. Can not complain once about the board.

Worked great...
I used this motherboard for an ESX server. Everything is working ROCK solid and I am very happy with it. With this motherboard I used 2xOpteron 4280's, 4xKingston ValueRam 8GB, and a LSI MegaRAID SAS 9240-4i. Hope this helps.
