## Description

Product Description The Fiskars Splitting Axe is the ideal splitting axe for small-sized logs. Our splitting axe combines perfected weight distribution, advanced blade geometry, an ultra-sharp edge, and a virtually unbreakable design to maximize your performance. This sharp blade axe is an ideal kindling splitter for outside by the fire pit or while camping and hiking. The combination of features allows the blade to disperse evenly for a more effective wood-splitting axe, offering more one-strike splits with each swing. With more blade penetration on each swing, you can chop more firewood in less time, with less effort and hand strain. This superbly designed, compact axe defies the concept of size matters. Trail clearing when you want to travel fast and light. Plus, it's crafted with all the fine details of its bigger counterparts, including a unique wedge-shaped blade that takes fewer swings to bust through the toughest timber. The FiberComp fiberglass composite handle is many times stronger than traditional wood handles, yet its also light in weight and impervious to weather. Fiskars insert molded design prevents the head from ever loosening or separating from the handle. And a lifetime guarantee means you can trust to really hack it. From the Manufacturer This superbly designed, compact axe defies the concept of size matters. Fact is, a smaller axe has its place in the world. Canoe trips into the Northwest Territories when space is tight. Trail clearing when you want to travel fast and light. And in the hands of smaller-framed people tired of being bossed around by an overgrown axe. If any of the situations above describe you, this is your axe. Review: A keen blade - I bought this splitter based on reviews, price, and brand, and I am fully satisfied with my purchase. It is perfectly made -- tough, balanced, and unstoppable. The blade comes sharp, but the real splitting power is in the flared sides of the head. I thought I would be using it for cutting kindling, but I can two-hand the handle and split full-sized logs no problem. It took me a little practice, because generating the needed swing speed for splitting is tougher than with a full-length splitter (shorter handle = less advantage). Plus, given the shorter handle, a miss-hit on a log can leave the momentum-driven blade moving towards your shins (unlike a longer tool, which would hit the ground before your toe, hopefully). With the gleaming, space-age-quality hone of the blade edge, I was a little worried (and timid, to be honest) about going full-bore with my swings, but after some use it works splendidly. I have found that a slightly taller chopping block, and a bend in the knees, helps to bring the blade home true every time. Usually the logs explode apart before the splitter has fully penetrated the wood, which makes me feel like a real lumberjack. More likely, it's because I am splitting dry, seasoned wood, but that doesn't stop me from taking a minute to marvel at the super-tool I hold in my hands. Every person who I have (conveniently) convinced to try out this beauty has been impressed, and many have gone on to buy their own. The shorter handle makes this tool much more likely to fit in the trunk and travel with me if needed for car camping. As for the reviews that state that the blade cover is bulky or too big, I think it's fine. It is solid, and you can hang the splitter up with it when storing it. Maybe it's too big to carry on your belt, a la Mel Gibson in the Patriot, but this is a splitter, not a tomahawk. Plus, the latch is just firm enough to keep young prying hands at bay. With this ax, think: Paul Bunyan meets Bruce Lee, 500 years in the future, in space. This is their legacy, sent back in time to benefit mankind. If you want to split giant logs, get a longer handled version. P.S. -- wear good gloves when splitting with this hero -- the closer proximity of your hands to the log means a greater chance of wood hitting your knuckles. Trust me.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: On a scale of 1-10, how useful is this super splitting axe against a zombie?**
A: With Zombies sometimes recovering from FATAL BLOWS it has always been my practice to follow-up with a GOOD WOOD CHIPPER. AMAZON sells a good 7HP Heavy Duty 212cc Gas Powered 3:1 Multi-Function Pro Wood Chipper Shredder https://www.amazon.com/GreatCircleUSA-Heavy-Duty-212cc-Powered/dp/B075SG6372/ref=sr_1_4?s=lawn-garden&ie=UTF8&qid=1538798975&sr=1-4&keywords=wood+chipper This can be very messy but is made easier by cutting section with a chainsaw. I use the STIHL MS 271 FARM BOSS 20" bar.

**Q: Brand new axe split a dozen dry logs. Corners of blade already slightly chipped. Never hit rocks or hard objects. Is this normal?**
A: I get chips dings and rolled edges regularly with mine. I need to sharpen it after about an hour or so. It performs very well, but I wish it was a bit more durable. I am splitting hard woods and I am don't go easy on it at all. I am happy that the handle has held up even when I smashed it into a log on a freezing cold day.

**Q: how to replace handle on Fiskars Axe?**
A: Fiskars products are warranted to the consumer purchaser to be free of defects in material and
workmanship for as long as the consumer owns the product. Warranty does not cover
sharpening, normal wear and tear, environmental factors, accidental damage, misuse,
industrial/commercial use.

well after a quick look at the warranty
i think you may only get a replacement if it was shipped that way
if it was wear and tear or anything like that it isnt their responsibility

**Q: Is the X27 (36" handle) too long for a short (5'2") female?**
A: I am 5'6" and I thought this X27 was too heavy and too long for me and returned it. I am a former member of the US military and found this 36 inch long axe very cumbersome and difficult to raise over my head. I bought a smaller model with a 3 pound head and a shorter handled (28 inches long.) I can only assume the small and average sized women who are saying this axe is fine are super amazons, which I am not.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Awesome Little Axe
*by G***G on July 1, 2026*

This thing is awesome. It’s the perfect size for camping so I don’t have to carry a full size axe. Splits wood with ease. It’s compact, sharp, and weighted perfectly. Love it!

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Nice little hatchet for kindling
*by D***Z on June 14, 2026*

It’s a nice little hatchet. I use it to cut kindling and it does an excellent job. Came sharp with a nice protective case that locks the blade in place which is helpful. If I ever manage to break this one, I’d buy another for sure.
