this stuff is awesome, but too expensive for what it is
i have stuffed this stuff behind every picture frame in our living room, even the ones with a sealed painted surface, and the sonic transformation is amazing.the room had horrible acoustic issues....kids being loud was especially annoying as the sound bounced off the walls, the stereo sounded like sht...with just the big picture on the wall the room sounded MUCH better.i put some in a pillow case and hung behind the wall mounted tv out of sight that worked like a charm as well....the wife had bought some small paintings, and there was just enough room behind them for this 1" thick stuff to fit so they got treated as wellthis is fiber glass, so it will drizzle fibers, so i sealed up the back of the paintings with what ever fabric i had around (old bed sheets)

Roxul for sound insulation
Used Roxul to insulate for sound in the cavity of a kitchen cabinet where the trash compactor goes. I would say it cut the noise in half, well worth the purchase, easy to cut and I have plenty left to insulate something else.

Three Stars
I had hoped it would be less fiberglassy. Acoustically it works as expected.

Nothing better for fireproof sound and thermal insulation, but absurdly expensive for what it is.
First, the bad news:"Rock wool" is one of the most abundant compounds on the surface of the earth: Silicate volcanic glass. It used to be the de facto standard for home insulation for decades until Dow Corning came out with the poorer quality and combustable binded fiber glass, made from sand. To this day, there is no better material for fire protection than Rock wool until you start using extreme carcinogens like asbestos. Rock wool is safe, will actually help inhibit fires from spreading, is non-toxic, very light, extremely easy to come by, can easily be formed into panels or batting, or blown in for attic insulation. The price should be closer to free. Both are absurdly expensive considering they're 1) extremely light 2) extremely common/abundant and 3) easy to pack and ship. I see $35 to over $100 just to ship one pack of this stuff.Says 12 pieces in the amazon title, "ROXUL ROCKBOARD ROXUL601X12 Acoustic Mineral Wool 60,12 Pcs "but only contains 6 panels. How hard is it to get that number correct? I can't even count how many amazon descriptions are completely wrong or even contradictory. Now the good news:This material is ideal for thermal and sound insulation in so many applications, but is absurdly expensive for what it is. For car/truck/commercial makes a very good sound absorbing and insulating material.

Dense, Easy to Work With--UPDATE
I purchased both, 1" and 2" panels for soundproofing parts of my Home Theater. I used scrap 3/4" pine (ripped to 1" width) and 1/2" plywood (ripped to 2" width) to build frames that I covered in speaker fabric. If you have large panels, I suggest you add cross braces in the middle for support. The Roxul panels are fairly dense, so when I am fully operational, we will see how well it works. Can't give 5-stars until that time. UPDATE-Pictures added--door soundproofing, base trap frames, completed base traps and doors. I highly recommend this product.
