But I wanted to avoid having the casters supporting the full weight of the bench all of the time. These type of design is just what I wanted. I really liked the idea, but wasn't sure if my expectations would meet reality. I would have to say that these are not perfect, but they do work as designed. Installation was fairly straightforward, and I did not have any issues with the supplied screws as some others have. Not sure if that is dependent on the material you are fastening these to, or if the quality of the hardware itself has been improved. Instructions were not great...I ended up installing upside down the silver plate that the caster bolts into. And immediately knew something was wrong when it wasn't working. Came back to the product description here with much better pictures, and it was very apparent where i went wrong. Some better printed instructions would have helped avoid that. But not a deal breaker. The lever to move the caster up and down works without a lot of pressure, but no so loose as to feel 'flimsy'.
