I wear size 11 wide in real life. So I bought the 11.5 wide. The insole was flat and unremarkable. So I replaced it with an arch support insole. My feet have plenty of room in the boot... once in the boot. It's not the easiest to get my feet in the boots. But I've had other shoes / boots that were much harder. So it's not easy and it's not the absolute worst to get you feet in the boots it's somewhere in between. But a loop on the back to help pull the boots on would definitely be nice. But once they are on they seem to be great.
