Review: If you like yellow cars would you like a Satin yellow turntable? - I adore yellow cars but even I had some doubts about a bright yellow turntable. Plus I could not decide between the Fluance RT85 or Project Carbon Evo. After a week of swopping around between the two and numerous reviews, the European build and look of the Pro-ject Carbon won the day. The turntable is superb, both in looks, quality and sound. I lost a Dual 505-2 turntable to ageing electrics that had lasted 35 years, replaced with an Audio-technica LP60X but wanted something a bit more specific. This fits the bill exactly and the sound is sensational even with the Ortofon 2M red stylus. I have the 2M blue as a backup but at the moment, the turntable is exactly what I was looking for. Amazing service from TVA/Electricshop that supplied in under 24 hours and has an exceptional customer service department. Most roads seem to end up at Henley Audio if you go Pro-Ject and their website looks exceptional. For just under £500 the turntable seems unbeatable value and the ability to upgrade to get the quality of £1000 + turntables is perfect for me. It is not far off £1000 turntables out of the box and once the 2M blue is fitted maybe that will be it. Set up is straightforward but not without 'fun'. The anti-skate is odd. Basically a small weight attached to a loop of fishing line. Not easy to fit as there is a tendency for the loop to fall off the groove and the line is so thin it is difficult to see. Loads of Youtube videos to help but I ended up adjusting the holding arm slightly outwards so that the fishing line stayed in place. Try to get the line as close to the horizontal as you can by adjusting the arm. It also helps once you have it 'fitted' to leave it completely alone for a couple of hours so it 'fixes' itself to the groove with pressure. One last thing. Instructions. Clear, simple, all in English, easy to follow and everything packed securely. And yes, if you love a yellow and black mix, this will suit you100%. It does not look tacky or cheap. It looks sensational.
Review: A definite upgrade. - This is my second Pro-ject turntable, the first being the entry level model. I have always been impressed with quality to buck ratio but quite frankly I'm blown away with the upgraded Debut Carbon Evo II. The whole turntable, from plinth to platter, feels incredibly robust and solid. The platter itself is pretty weighty at about 1.7kg giving it a reassuringly meaty feel and you can certainly tell the difference when spinning a disc. Set up was extremely easy, as always. I didn't change any other equipment so it was a simple plug in play. The tone arm set up was simplicity itself, I seem to remember the aluminium arm being a lot harder to balance, not the carbon arm, literally took about 30 seconds. The overall aesthetic is pleasing, a thicker plinth in satin blue and a slightly larger footprint, again, gives the feel of quality, I especially like the electronic speed change, a must for me after years of fiddling with the belt with my sausage fingers it's pure luxury. Sound quality will always depend on what other equipment you have. I never scrimped on pre-amp, amp, speakers & cables so I'm now realising my previous Pro-ject let the whole system down, this one, however, feels like I'm getting the best out of my kit. In summary, another great turntable from Pro-ject. A definite step up from entry level models, noticeably so, but still very affordable. A very happy chappie am I!

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Do I need an external pre-amp for this turntable?**
A: Not if your amplifier supports MM. check your amplifier specs.

**Q: Connected table to my speakers using the rca cables, plays through them fine but it's really quiet when volume is on full, help? it's not the speakers**
A: Hi Jess

make sure that your phono connections are plugged into your you phono input on the amplifier. Your turntable should have a moving magnetic cartridge so the correct input is required on the amp

Regards

HiFix

**Q: I have (very) old sanyo speakers which came with a 10 stack cd player i bought years ago - would they work with this turntable or should i upgrade?!**
A: You will need an aux function on your system and RCA connection points on the back of your system (the red and white cables with plugs on the end) you will need to buy a small preamp to fit between the turntable and your system otherwise you will not get any volume through the speakers, any preamp will do, you can pick them up fairly cheaply and it will work fine, I run mine through a CD system and I am very pleased with the sound quality.

**Q: Received mine today just finding out can anyone else hear the motor when running on 33 and louder on 45?**
A: When I start mine up on 33rpm I can hear the motor until it gets to full speed, after that it runs silently. At 45 rpm there is a very faint noise even when the motor is at full speed. It is really quiet and I hadn’t noticed it until I listened out for it when I got this request

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Great upgrade.
*by E***G on 23 April 2021*

Bought gloss white, looks very classy. Pakaged well, easy to unpack and easy to set up , no real dramas, I used a stylus balance rather than guess the tracking weight. Levelled with a bubble and it sits on a hefty piece of slate 2" thick. My only gripe is the included phono cable is a bit short for me. Played various LP's and it is silent without hum or rumble. The cartridge and stylus needs to run in, but first impressions are really good. Plays clear and very bright. I find the 2m red quite bright its a shame the blue stylus isnt a straight either/or swap option when ordering.... All in all a great upgrade for my 20yr old, reliable "Sherwood" turntable. Update ... I would suggest to "Pro-ject" and owners that they add a small sticky felt or rubber pad above the speed - on/off switch to prevent rubbing the finish off over time with your thumb.
