All the pans I had used so far that I purchased from stores kept resulting in overly cooked / hard bottoms and sides. This OXO loaf pan had great reviews and a unique bottom design so decided to give it a shot. I just used my bread pan for the first time to make banana nut bread, and I was ecstatic about how well it came out! The crust had risen and browned perfectly without burning on the sides or bottom. My husband said the bread tasted buttery and delicious. Amazing! Check out the picture to see how my banana nut bread looked after baking and starting to cool on a cooling rack. I was a bit hesitant about the cleaning aspect of it since I saw that another customer complained it being difficult with the bottom design. However, I found it to be easy with a dish scouring (one that's safe for non-stick pans) rag. I can see how it may be more difficult with a regular sponge. There were just a thin layer of bread crumbs on the side and bottom after removing my bread (it plopped right out just by tipping the pan upside down and shaking a bit), and the loaf pan was spotless after cleaning. Hands down, the OXO Pro gold loaf pan beats them all for producing consistent & quite beautifully browned bakes, easily removed from the pan, for both yeasted & quick breads. It is also a much better buy than the Williams & Sonoma gold baking pans, priced as if they're made of actual gold. I'm buying more of the OXO Pro line & donating my current loaf pan hoard to charity. The pan cooks more quickly than glass of course, but also more quickly than my other metal pans so check your bakes early & often for doneness until you get a feel for it. The pattern on the bottom doesn't deform the bake at all & as with all good cooking tools I hand wash this: dishwasher detergent is extremely harsh & over time always degrades aluminum & silicone products, cuz, chemistry, y'know? Overall I highly recommend this loaf pan to any baker.
