Should be a $ saving investment for the DIY guy or gal.
Just arrived 3 days ago. Quality of unit seems decent. Plugged it in to all 3 of my obd2 vehicles (silverado, charger and an accord) to see if it would communicate. Linked up within 10 seconds on all 3. Unfortunately I currently do not have a fault light on in any of my rigs. Will update review when I get one... My 2005 silverado seems to pop the engine light about every 4 to 6 months for stupid crap like dirty air flow sensor or fuel cap etc... so it shouldn't be long...Update: I have had my 3150 now for 4 days and it already paid for itself. Diagnosed and repaired a problem with my daughter's Honda. I figured between diag, parts and labor I saved myself close to $400. What would have been an easy $600 shop bill I completed for less than $200 in parts and a couple hours labor. The code I was trouble shooting was one of those codes a "not so honest" shop could have upsold an unknowing patron to over $1000. But with pulling the code and a little on line research of possible causes of the code, had it figured out pretty quick and it was the lesser expensive of the possible failed parts.04/2017: at this point... This little gem has saved me, my neighbor, my daughters friends and a couple buddies thousands of $$ all together... Has been a great investment.

Very helpful product!
I have a 1996 Ford F-150 that had been giving transmission trouble codes for some time. I have two other scanners that could not detect the code. I took my truck into a local shop (not a dealership) and they could not detect the code. I was at a loss. I didn't want to completely rebuild an expensive E4OD transmission if I didn't have to. So after much research I came across this device. I knew that if this device couldn't read the code I could always return it to Amazon with no questions asked. I read the reviews that said what a terrible product and other such negative comments. I decided to purchase this device and have never been happier. This device has read every DTC that I have thrown at it. Although, I have not used this device for any abs problems. Every code that does come up I research it on the internet before dropping hundreds of dollars to repair. I would do this if the dealer told me what the DTC was. Just like anything one cannot take things a face value. Do some research on what the code is. Thats just common sense. I don't speak OBDII so researching it on the internet puts everything into plain language for anyone to understand. I have used this device to read the enhanced codes that most OBDII readers cannot read. The dealer wanted to charge $99 just to read the code. This device on sale was only a few more dollars. Its a no brainer and now I don't have to waste money at a local mechanic who can't do the job or be burned by the dealership. I am very happy with this purchase and would surely recommend this device to every diy-er.

Great product for the price
I bought this reader a few weeks ago because my Jeep SRS (airbag) light was on after replacing the heater core. My grandson, a professionalmechanic, thought we had messed up the seat weight sensor somehow. The seat sensor can only be calibrated by the dealer due to the computerrequired to set the weight so my grandson wanted me to take it the dealer to reset the weight calibration. I wasn't as convinced that we hadmessed up the seat weight calibration so did not want to take it to the dealer without knowing what was wrong. I discovered this code reader, unlike most other low cost readers, would read the SRS and ABS codes for my Jeep. A few years back, the SRS and ABS code readers costthousands of dollars but this one was a little under 200 bucks so I went ahead and bought it. The reader showed the light was on due to a lowresistance in the front passenger airbag circuit. Being an electrical engineer with over 45 years experience, I can troubleshoot this one myself. Sothe reader saved me a trip to the dealer. A note to all you do it yourselfers out there, DO NOT mess with the airbag circuitry unless you areexperienced in these systems. You can explode the airbags if you do not know what you are doing.

Excellent tool for both professionals and weekend mechanics!
I bought this OBDII scanner a month ago since my two SUVs (Rav4 and a Jeep Lib) had several chrystmas lights turning on and off in the dashboard and no one was able to address the right problem with them. As soon as I got the tool I discovered that the SRS light in my Toyota was due to a well known problem hidden by Toyota and, in my Jeep, there was a proprietor code not readed by normal scanners which leaded me to change the thermostat. I also lent this tool to a friend who has a working shop and he is amazed how wonderful it is!Finally, the tool came with a PC software (average, but you can find something better through internet) and when i bought this product the web page shown an old serial interface with the computer, but mine came with USB interface!!! GREAT!!!I don't give a 5 star review for the lack of Live Stream Data (found in the 3160 model) and the average PC software; but, other than that, I can assure this item is EXCELLENT!!PS: The pouch incuded with the scanner is strong and big enought to store togheter a medium size multimeter with the scanner! Great!!!

Not for novice mechanics but a cool tool to have
I used this to troubleshoot a check engine light, ABS light, and airbag (SRS) light on my 2004 Explorer. The device worked for my model year (do your homework first!!) and gave me the codes for the dash lights. The device is easy to learn and I reset the dash lights with no problem. The issue I had was determining the resolution to the DTCs - no clear answers for what to do next. I had the code, looked up the code on the web but the steps to resolve it stopped there. With the cost of auto parts these days I'll spend more money and time throwing parts at the solution than just taking it to a repair shop to get it right the first time. Also, when it comes to SRS codes, the device was not able to tell me what pretensioner was the problem. In the Explorer, you need to remove the seat to replace the pretensioner - too much time for a do-it-yourselfer like me to remove and repair the wrong seat. I gave 4 stars because this device is very valuable to an experienced mechanic or someone working on a project vehicle. If I had just wanted to reset the lights I would have gone to Autozone.
