According to the directions that are included, it should take about 18 minutes to hard boil 7 eggs. Because I was steaming double that, I added an extra 2 minutes to the countdown. The way the machine works is simple - Add water to the hot plate, it boils the water off into steam. When the water is all gone, the plate gets too hot tripping the shutoff alert. There is a little measuring cup that is marked for how much water you will need to cook your desired style of eggs (Poached, Omelette, Hard, Medium, or Soft-boiled) Unfortunately, I think they screwed up the measurements because if you want them hard-boiled like I do, you should want more water in the pan, not less. This little measuring cup is my only legitimate gripe about the machine. I'm very happy I was wrong. I love the fact that I can now steam a dozen eggs on my countertop and not have to use the stove when it's already 90f deg in the house. I just got today, I have already boiled 3 dozen farm fresh eggs, if you ever had true farm fresh eggs and boiled them, you know it can be a challenge to peel them without tearing the life out of them, this bad boy uses so little water, even I was skeptical, let me tell you, even one batch I was warming up my coffee when the microwave went off, I thought it was this machine and I turned off the machine and pulled the eggs after the fact realizing it wasn't the machine that beeped, but never the less, those eggs were perfect, and peeling them, darn, no tearing up of the eggs, not one, cooked perfectly every single time, no joke. I even dropped one of those suckers, the darn thing still peeled like a dream, and talking about dropping one of the eggs I was washing fell against another causing a huge crack/dent in the egg, so i figured I'm going to put this sucker to the test, we'll end result, that egg STILL boiled perfectly, not any of that egg popped through the shell during the cooking process, as a matter of fact, the egg seemed to have sealed itself during cooking. It's necessary to def wear hand protection when your getting those babies out of there, they are seriously hot, and it's necessary to wash the reservoir after each use, but as I said if you dont like this guy, YOU NEED THEAPY.
