SKORVA Steel Midbeam Support Beam - Needed for Most IKEA Bed Frames

I repurposed the steel center support beam for another bed a few years back. We we to reassemble the original bed this weekend. I ordered this replacement center support beam. It arrived as promised and works/fit perfectly.

IKEA's website says they will ship one of these if you order online from their website... false.For $30 I decided to cut my losses and not bother with their inferior shipping services--it can take up to a week, and you have to be there in person to receive it.It may arrive "partially broken." How can a steel beam be "partially broken"?Well, apparently Amazon doesn't have a long enough box to ship this product so they try to cram it into the longest box they have, as evidenced by the box with the bulging side I received.This results in one end sliding past a stamped divot, which is intended to prevent the midbeam from collapsing any further, gaining the shipper the additional 2 or 3 inches they need to consider the box """closed""".At this point, the midbeam is completely stuck--you will not be able to pull it apart without ropes and a come-along winch.If you do not have such a thing, then your best bet is get one of those trash plastic-handled chisels and a hammer, and lever it out by bending the metal as pictured. You can hammer the metal back into shape once you have it loose.Despite this being galvanized steel, you may want to oil any gouges you have left, to prevent it from rusting.Now you are home free and the midbeam should slide freely.Yes, I sharpened the chisel after abusing it.

The box it came in looked as it survived a war, really bitten up, so one of the end was little bended but I fixed it and it fits perfectly now.

The little plastic nubbins that holds the SKORVA in place didn’t come with it, so I had to find them and buy them and wait some more for them to get here in order to finally sleep on my bed.

This beam works great but they come come pretty jammed together. Spray the whole thing with WD40 let it sit and hit one side with a rubber mallet to get it lose. That is exactly what I did after struggling trying to pull it apart by hand. Save the time and just do that!

Needed for IKEA BED

I needed this asap so I couldn't return it even though the ends weren't straight and it didn't fit immediately. After applying some muscle and pliers, along with finding the right angle it worked. I'll give an average grade since it got the job done, but didn't appreciate having to fix a product I just purchased.

When I received this item, the extendable beam had compressed beyond its limit and ended up getting jammed. I had to use WD40 and a bit of force in order to return it extend it to its proper length. Afterwards the thing worked fine.
