Husain Haddawy’s rapturously received translation of The Arabian Nights is based on a landmark reconstruction of the earliest extant manuscript version. Readers of this classic will also want to own Sindbad, a collection of four later stories associated with the Arabian Nights tradition, including “Sindbad the Sailor” and “Aladdin and the Magic Lamp.” Review: Great Book Great Price -- the best translation of these stories. Incl Sindbad, Aladdin, Ali Baba - Great book Great price, and reputed as the best translation available. Includes Sindbad, one of the first serial killers in literature, came from a different manuscript than the body of the 1001 Nights, and is given clearly and readably. Also here are two tales recounted by a Syrian servant, Ala-Al-Din and Ali Baba, added to the Arabian nights, and which have become classics. No, 1001 isn't only a number, it is also usd as an expression meaning "a lot" the way we'd say "I have a hundred errands today." Fortunate for us that these stories were preserved. Review: The original Sinbad, Aladdin and Ali Baba are not what you read as a child - Mr. Haddaway brings these great stories back to life. These are not the children's tales you got from Disney. Often bloodthirsty, lewd, convoluted and poetic, they are great fun. The introduction, in which the author remembers his childhood is Baghdad, and the stories told by his great uncle, is wonderful in itself. ## Technical Specifications | Specification | Value | |---------------|-------| | Best Sellers Rank | #1,002,742 in Books ( See Top 100 in Books ) #16,126 in Short Stories (Books) #18,448 in Literary Fiction (Books) | | Customer Reviews | 4.6 out of 5 stars 109 Reviews | ## Images ![Sindbad: And Other Stories from the Arabian Nights - Image 1](https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/71W6IGyZKPL.jpg) ## Available Options This product comes in different **Media Format** options. ## Customer Reviews ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Great Book Great Price -- the best translation of these stories. So after 40 years later, I opened Sindbad's story back up and Muhsin Mahdi's translation is as close as possible. Sindbad was a fantastic sailor and his engaging and beautiful words as a hero helps this modern world--to be a religious, honest man doing the best we can and God helps us out along the way! ## Frequently Bought Together - Sindbad: And Other Stories from the Arabian Nights - Arabian Nights and Days: A Novel --- ## Why Shop on Desertcart? - 🛒 **Trusted by 1.3+ Million Shoppers** — Serving international shoppers since 2016 - 🌍 **Shop Globally** — Access 737+ million products across 21 categories - 💰 **No Hidden Fees** — All customs, duties, and taxes included in the price - 🔄 **15-Day Free Returns** — Hassle-free returns (30 days for PRO members) - 🔒 **Secure Payments** — Trusted payment options with buyer protection - ⭐ **TrustPilot Rated 4.5/5** — Based on 8,000+ happy customer reviews **Shop now:** [https://www.desertcart.sc/products/2529204-sindbad-and-other-stories-from-the-arabian-nights](https://www.desertcart.sc/products/2529204-sindbad-and-other-stories-from-the-arabian-nights) --- *Product available on Desertcart Seychelles* *Store origin: SC* *Last updated: 2026-10-15*
