Gioteck EX-01 Bluetooth Headset for PS3

This device is great and well worth the price.First the packaging. Unlike most new devices or accessories I buy these days, this one came in a very simple to open package. It was not heat sealed in a thick plastic that seems to get sharper than the scissors you need to open it! For this all you had to do was remove two pieces of tape, lift two tabs and the main piece just slides right out. The earpiece is then secured with a twist tie that is very simply removed. This is a company that knows people actually like to use the things they buy!Second is the included chargers. It does not use a standard USB connection to charge; however, they include a cable designed for plugging into a USB port. I use this PS3 Charge Station to charge my controllers and now my earpiece thanks to that cable.Now the actual earpiece. It is very comfortable and sits well on the ear. The loop that goes around your ear is very soft and flexible.As they say you will forget you are even wearing it. Or at least you would if it wasn't for the great sound quality. That little single speaker on the device is extremely clear. I have had no problems hearing people and no one has complained about being able to hear me.This device allows for great communication while playing, so it does add another level of fun to gaming.

This ear piece is the best one I have ever had and it is easy to use. To connect it to anything including the PS3 was as easy as a few steps; it also came with a colored book for easy instructions, so it is stupid proof ;) It is plenty loud right out of the box, so ther eis no need to raise the volume and it takes in ur voice in clearly.The only con I found was the piece that goes around the ear. It is comfortable, but it comes of easily while your putting it on. It isn't hard to put back in so it wasn't a problem. Plus it didn't bother me to much because it doesn't happen all the time, it only happens every once in a while; it wasn't enough to bug me.Overall it is a great product :)UPDATE(2-26-09); So after using it for few weeks, I started to notice that that problem with the ear piece part was more than just a small bother, it came off to easily and it wouldn't go back on. They need to make this piece a little bit stronger so that it won't give me so many problems. Now the piece has come off completely, if I try to put it back on it is almost impossible. The audio is great, but I wouldn't recommend it if you want to be able to keep it in your ear :(

This is a cool looking device and for the price you can't go wrong. I just wanted an inexpensive headset for use with the PS3 as I am not a heavy game player. I charged it for about a half hour and paired it with my PS3 with no issues and was off and running with it.The ear-hook is rubber and does not hold the speaker tight against your ear, nor does the speaker go into the ear canal (the speaker is flat with the headset); however it is loud enough that it is not an issue. The sound quality for the price is good. Just to see how it works I paired it with my cell phone and tested it out. I made a few calls and the quality was pretty good as well; the person on the other end stated I sounded loud and clear as well.The only issue is that the primary user of the PS3 is my 8 year old son and the ear-hook is to big to hold securely on his ear. I was able to modify it for a better fit though by gluing some small strips of felt to the inside of the ear-hook to size it. He also says it sounds good to him as well.Overall I am happy with the quality of this headset and would recommend it.

I debated quite a while whether to go with 2 or 3 stars. Truth is, if I could do 2.5 I'd probably pick that!The Pro's:It works! And for only $20 (as of my purchase), that's pretty amazing for a Bluetooth headset of this (relative) quality.It syncs easily to the PS Vita (don't be fooled by the packaging that says it is "exclusively" for the PS3...it works fine with the PS Vita).It is light; easy to wear for a while.The Con'sThis is where my debate comes in...!I would call the sound quality mediocre at best. When I first heard it, I was thinking 1-star. Then I listened some more and shifted my impression to 2-star for sound. I think perhaps I was expecting too much...or got my hopes up from reading other reviews that said it has "fantastic sound". Honestly, it does not. The sound is "tinny" and even "scratchy" at times. This may partially be true because it is sits outside your ear, so I find myself turning the volume *way* up to hear everything, and in so doing probably hit the limits of the quality of the little speaker.So in the end I am going with 3 stars, which is a combo of 2-stars for sound quality balanced by 4-stars for Bluetooth headset value. Bottomline, if you want an inexpensive Bluetooth headset that actually works, but you don't mind mediocre sound quality, this is a good choice. If you are like me and just wanted to get a Bluetooth to avoid the hassle of having earbud wires dangling from your ear while playing, be aware you will be sacrificing a lot in sound quality vs. $10 earbuds. I'm afraid I may use this a lot less than hoped because it just doesn't produce the sound I'd like to hear.P.S. I have not used the mic for live discussions with anyone. I did try using it with the PS Vita "tutorial game" that uses the mic, and the playback sounded awful. But I have no way to know if that was the mic or the game distorting things.
