Is it worth buying for it? I can’t find any good outdoor thermometers** A: It seems accurate. It gets very hot here in the summer afternoon sun, and it has gone up to 145 degrees Fahrenheit and continued to work with no problem. The knife has been soaked a couple of times, and the display quit, but after removing the batteries and letting it dry out, and then putting in new batteries, it displayed again and has been fine. It's also great for telling if the air pressure (barometer) has been rising or falling, and for telling elevation. It's a great little knife. You may have to find the instructions for all the settings online, but I downloaded the pdf file and keep it handy on my PC. I think not all the instructions files include the instructions for changing units AFTER initial startup. The units default to metric and Celcius, but it's easy enough to change to US measurements if you have the instructions. There's a way to do that at initial startup when you put in the batteries (there are batteries in 2 different places, one for the light), but you can also change all the settings afterward. The temperature units (Fahrenheit versus Celcius) and altitude (feet versus meters) are set together. Some of the instructions show that, and some don't. Find the pdf file of the user/operating manual for the Victorinox Traveller Swill Army Knife In one version of the instructions, I think the instructions for these settings are at the end of the file (see where it’s copied here, below). Click the Victorinox shield on the knife until you get to the temperature reading. (Yes, temperature!) Press down on the shield for at least 8 seconds, at which point permutations of units for BOTH TEMPERATURE and ALTITUDE are settable. Celcius/meters, Celcius/feet, Fahrenheit/meters, Fahrenheit/feet. (C/m, C/ft, F/m, F/ft). They call Centigrade Celcius. Setting combinations (Temperature menu): "Press the Victorinox emblem for 8 seconds until the display flashes. Release the Victorinox emblem again. You have now changed over to the unit setting mode. By pressing the Victorinox emblem briefly while the display is flashing, the temperature and altitude units can be changed (see illustration). If the button is not pressed for 3 seconds, the setting mode is quit automatically and the new setting accepted." **Q: Can I have it personalized by inscribing initials or a name on it?** A: No, I wasn’t able to. **Q: How do you clean this knife without damaging the electrical components?** A: Knowing that it has the electrical .......you can't submerge it or apply to mush pressure to the surface, you sure only have to clean the blade or the metal parts **Q: What's the difference with other same products?** A: Too general! The led light gets grumbled about in some reviews but the current version uses an led which is pure white and though tiny, bright enough to let you find your way about on a dark night. There are also questions about how waterproof it is, I think the answer is 'good enough' for most people, with reports of the electronics still working after passing through a washing machine. Some people mention the display screen can be easily scratched - though it is very slightly recessed and I can find no photos of badly scratched screens on the internet. It's easy to set up and the choice of blades and tools is excellent with no saw, something I rarely use in practice. Build quality is far superior to almost any other multi-tools/knives, though maybe not quite as good as my Victorinox purchased in 1989 in Switzerland, which seems to have been near the pinnacle of their quality control; with perfect machining and polishing of surfaces that cannot normally be seen.Would I recommend it - Yes!
