JW Pet Ruffians Fish Dog Toy, Large (Assorted Colors)

I love love love JW Pet toys! This Ruffians Fish toy is one of my dogs favorites - and what's really funny is she is always putting this one in her water dish! None of the others, only this fish!We buy almost nothing but JW because of the quality - and the fact that they hold up! They last a long, long time - we had a very hard time finding anything she didn't shred. Don't get me wrong, they still get defeated eventually by our "Pebbles, the destructor!", but it's not like many other brands, where you are spending 20+ on a toy, and it's destroyed in 5 minutes flat.We had never heard of JW until we went to visit our best friends in TX. Their dog is a bit older than ours, and never touched the JW bone that was in their dogs bucket. Like any dog, ours kept taking it out of the other dogs bucket - when we went to leave, my friend gave it to our dog..........that was 5 months ago and it's still in one piece!!! That is nothing short of a miracle for her! Plus, we love the shapes, it makes the toys unpredictable for where they will land - making play time even that much more fun!Our dog is spoiled, but she deserves JW toys - she started out rough (being a rescue, she was sick for a long time at first), but very happy and healthy now - and for the joy she brings us, we'll keep getting her JW!Worth every penny!

Our dogs love this toy. We have three labs, two of which are completely obsessed with this durable squeaky toy. They've been playing with it for a few weeks now and it's still intact...even the squeaker, which is amazing, since most stop squeaking in a day or two. Do note that they are supervised when they play with it and I take it away when they're done (meaning when my 10 year old is so tired he's nearly stopped breathing. He would keep going, if I'd let him). They probably play with it for about 45 minutes a day. They know where I keep it (in the garage) and wait in anticipation for me to go out and get it for them every night. We've been calling it the Jesus fish, because, well, it's a religious experience for them. It's literally the most durable squeaky toy I've ever come across. Others don't last without being completely destroyed for more than a couple days. Some have little parts that the dogs can get to if they bite hard enough to break it. We've tried tons of squeaky toys, all under the same kind of supervised playing circumstances, and none come close to comparing. I highly recommend this!!

I've ordered other Ruffians for my pups, and they haven't lasted long (the chicken, in particular). This large fish was on sale, and we like JW because they generally last awhile and don't make my pups sick, so I ordered it. My mini bull terrier is fairly aggressive with toys, mainly because when he gets one he plays with it nonstop. He got the fish yesterday around 4 pm; the squeaker quit today around 6 pm, but that's actually not bad for him. Importantly, it's otherwise holding up well to his relentless gnawing and tugging. It's a good size because he can carry it around by the skinny part and mouth the big part. It's bright, cute, and fairly cheap, so I'm happy with it. It's not as durable as some JW toys, but it's in one piece still, so it's ok.I would reorder for my aggressive chewer, but once my destructive chewer gets a hold of it, it will be in pieces. Recommend for chewers like mine. He loves it (he's even sleeping with it).

I also reviewed the Bad Cuz - the first part of this review is the same; just some background on my dog's chewing habits for your comparison! My 60-lb mixed breed likes to chew on these types of toys and when he gets he tends to become very focused on destroying them. He's not ordinarily a super-aggressive chewer, but he really likes rubbery toys. He pulls on the rubber over and over; it seems to be a very satisfying feeling. For comparison, he had a West Paw Hurley for a couple of years - he only showed interest in it when we played fetch. At some point he decided to start chewing on it; after several days he had broken pieces of the rubber off. Thus, when he really sets his mind on destruction....I believe that no toy is safe. A toy is only safe if he is not interested in it at all - then it's truly a waste of money!I showed him this toy and the Bad Cuz; he immediately took this one and trotted off to his lair. He spent over an hour chewing at this toy to remove the squeaker. He did succeed after an hour maybe...but that's what he likes to do, and I bought the toy to entertain him. I don't really consider it a "failure" on the part of the dog toy; although it would have been ideal had the toy lasted a little bit longer! He still chews on it; he pretty much has chewed up half of it since I gave it to him 3 days ago! Five stars because he preferred this one over the Bad Cuz and a lot of other squeak toys by a long shot. I was going to take off one star for durability but, honestly, it's a tricky area because there are more durable toys (the Bad Cuz is still around), but he doesn't like them as much. He likes rubbery toys that have a lot of "spring" - eventually they are going to break!

We’ve bought JW Ruffians toys in the past. One has been the favorite of three different dogs for at least 8 years. I bought two “Bad Cuz” toys - one for our Staffy and one for our Lab puppy. The squeaker device broke in under a half hour of play in both toys.I bought one medium and one large bowling pin in the same order. Thank goodness the tags are still on, because they are going back. Both are so stiff and hard that the 50 pound Staffy wouldn’t be able to squeak them. It’s hard for us to squeak them.Don’t know what’s happened with this brand, but we are sorely disappointed.

This toy was the favorite of my Heart Dog. He loved it and would take it on walks all the time. JW toys are durable and the plastic is safe, as it used to be made in the US. I've have a hard time fining another one.

This is one durable dog toy and it’s design means it has an irregular bounce when you throw it. My 30 lb Truffle dog is mad for it - chews it and throws it and can’t wait to bring it back. No other toy compares - she tires (or destroys) everything else.

My dog goes through so many toys, but this is indestructible and she loves it. It’s tough, it bounces and squeaks. Absolutely awesome.

My staffy will destroy anything that isn't a Kong Extreme in roughly 30 seconds. I've looked everywhere for a squeaky toy for him, but they are all so flimsy. This, on the other hand, lasted all of Christmas day and most of Boxing day before it was disembowelled. That may not sound that great to you, but I consider it a triumph. It took a while to arrive as it comes from the USA, but I would definitely use this brand again. Maybe I'll get him the rubber chicken next year...

Quality solid pet toy. Priced fairly. My dog continues to use her original yellow chicken. I have been buying various items for 10 years! 🐶
