Rubbermaid Commercial Products Legacy Step-On Trash Can/Container, 12-Gallon, Red, Hands-Free Sanitary Use Garbage Can for Medical Waste in Hospitals/Lab/Emergency/Patient Rooms

This trash can is more expensive than most other "plastic" cans, but it is worth every penny. (I bought a nifty red one, and it perks up the kitchen.)This can is extremely sturdy--it doesn't flex, when you push in on the sides--and it hold a lot. I don't have to buy special bags for it, either. I buy a box of 30 gallon Glad ForceFlex Plus, because they're strong, and they're available most anywhere. The bag is a little large for the can, so I tie a little knot in one side of the bag's opening to make it smaller. It fits, then, and works great, plus, the bag always stays in place. It never falls into the can, when I put garbage in it, no matter how heavy the items. When the can gets full, and I remove the bag, there is still enough room left to add all the trash from several other small trash cans in other rooms.I chose this can, because it fits under my commercial stainless steel sink with plenty of room left over for the top to flip up.This can came fully-assembled and packed very well. I'm totally satisfied with its quality and with how well it works. I would definitely buy this item, again.

I would have said no, but clearly I was wrong - I love this can. I purchased it because I wanted a durable can that wasn't totally ugly, and that had a traditional step-on mechanism. While the traditional 13 gallon tall kitchen bags don't fit, I am using a 30 gallon trash bag, which fits fine, and allows me to consolidate trash from other cans around the house when I remove it from the can to take to the dump, and the heavier bags don't leak (nice for my car), so worth the purchase of a larger bag to me. And best of all, the can is well-made, and I expect I will not need to buy a new one for many years!

Good sturdy plastic. Should last for several years.

I really like this trash can. It is sturdy and functional. The only complaint I have is that it is very bulky. It says "slim Jim" but it isn't. Regular trash bags won't fit without a tug-of-war to get them secure. I had to get special bags for the can and now have a lot of regular trash bags that I can't use. Overall, I like the trash can but I prefer something slimmer. I do like the red color, though!

In no way is this a 12 gallon container and that's a problem. 12-13 gallon bags don't come close to fitting it. If you use 30-33 gallon bags as mentioned in the discussion they are overlarge, flop about and fall off the mounts making it pretty much useless for kitchen or similar use. To make matters worse it's not returnable through Amazon, so you are stuck with it - so be aware.

Everything you expect from a trash can, thought this color was going to white but came red. It doesn't really matter but just not how it is shown in the picture...
