Q: can the wristrest be removed?

No it cannot. And I would twice about trying to cut it off - as there is power running to it (the wrist rest) because the dragon logo also lights in the various colors.

Q: Are the keys removable?

I've remove and cleaned keys no problem

Q: What kind of switches does this use? I have it and I am not liking it compared to my Alienware M11x r3 keyboard, or even my $2 thrift store towers.

This uses standard rubber dome switches, but these in particular feel very soft and cake-ish compared to other rubber domes.

Q: This keyboard looks exactly like the MSI INTERCEPTOR DS4100 GAMING KEYBOARD. Are they the same thing, or is one a rip off?

Not sure, they look similar but I'd imagine that this is a bit of a knock-off. There are some issues with this keyboard. Sometimes the keys won't register and there are some issues with the lighting. The key issue seems to get better the more you use it, but the lights are just the opposite. Not a big issue for me as I only really use the red, blue and white.
