Our QwenchPure Shower Filter uses leading-edge 100% KDF-55 filter medium for maximum efficiency in hot water filtering for chlorine, turbidity, and other unwanted contaminants. Many filters on the market claim to filter chlorine with many different methods from activated carbon to ceramic balls, to calcium sulfate. None of these methods are realistic in a hot water environment. QwenchPure's USA-Produced KDF-55 is the only filter material that meets NSF rating standards for hot water chlorine filtration. While other filters may only have a small percentage mixed into their filter, at Qwench, we have manufactured a filter with 100% KDF-55, over 8 oz per filter. This provides the most effective chlorine removal shower system to restore your skin and hair to their healthiest state. Chlorine causes drying of the skin and hair, as well as reddening of the eyes. Chlorine strips your skin's natural oils, causing dry flaky skin and even premature aging and wrinkles. For most people, one of the highest exposures to chlorine occurs in their hot shower. Hot water opens the pores of your skin, allowing more of this toxin into the body. In addition, you inhale the evaporated chlorine gas in the steamy air. This enters directly into your body and blood stream with each breath. Unlike natural spring water which is famous for leaving hair feeling soft and shiny, chlorinated water dries out hair. Working as an oxidant, chlorine changes the structure of hair, weakening and damaging it. With tinted or colored hair, the effects are even more obvious, especially with red-tinted hair. Chlorinated water can change the color of bleached or colored hair to a yellow/green, referred to as "swimmers hair." With our QwenchPure filter, in about five to seven days, the natural balance of your skin and scalp will be restored, contributing to healthier, softer skin and less brittle hair. ## Features - Effective in Hot Water: Only QwenchPure contains 100% KDF-55, the only medium that meets NSF standards for hot-water chlorine filtration. How long will the filters last?** A: Thanks for the question! Here at Qwench Pure, we are so excited to see your interest in our product. Thank you! We expect to have replacement cartridges available by second quarter of 2016. As far as the life of the filters, it depends on the how many people are using it each day, the amount of chlorine and contaminants in your water, and the water flow of your shower head. On average, this means the filters last between 4-8 months. We are developing a questionnaire online to help customers assess when to replace their filter. Thanks again for your interest and Happy Showers! **Q: I need a filter that softens the water. I have extremly hard water. Is this a good filter for hard water?** A: A shower head filter cannot soften water (remove hard water minerals) The only way to get soft water in a shower is to install either a whole house water softener or the "ShowerStick" shower water softener made by WaterSticks (watersticks.com). You won't get the results you're looking for unless you remove the hard water minerals. **Q: does it affect the water pressure?** A: No. I have not noticed any loss of water pressure. Water shoots out just fine. Hope this helps. **Q: What percentage of chlorine and chloramines does the filter remove? Also what other nasty things does the filter remove? Thanks** A: This filter works best in hot water as the catalytic action is faster at higher temperatures. No filter will remove 100% of all contaminates. Any filter hot water shower filter that claims to remove all chlorine and chloramine is very suspect, most likely they are not able to fully test their end results. Under normal shower conditions of 1.5-2.5 gallons per minute flow rate, and between 100-120 degrees Fahrenheit the QwenchPure Shower filter is very effective. We have measured over a 90% reduction in free chlorine. This is the practical limit of titration tests, it could remove much more. We use the HACH brand Free and Total Chlorine test kit # 212900.
