I would call it a citrus based cologne, great for year round but even better for spring to late summer. The spray cologne has been said to last longer and be stronger than the cologne bottles themselves for some reason, never having smelled the latter (this is my first 4711) I can not say the accuracy of that statement. With that said, I keep this in the car and in the golf bag. Great to stay fresh on the go and definitely non-offensive scent. Can be used for casual to professional setting, although more leaning towards the former. Tom Ford makes a similarly colored fragrance for A LOT more money, it's been said that his popular fragrance is based off of this cologne. This is very true, although the Tom Ford version does smell much more elegant and well blended (for a $200 bottle it should). I also keep this in the golf bag which not only makes me smell great on the course, but if the bugs get out, the citrus on this cologne keeps them at bay.
