TDS is not a professional way to test the water quality, TDS means total dissolved solids, for example if you put a very little salt(NaCl) into the water and test the TDS, and you will find the result is dramatically high. Same thing, if your water is full of minerals, the TDS is very high too. The SP99 water filter doesn’t remove any of the minerals from water, it only stops heavy metals such as Lead, Mercury, Cadmium, and it removes greatly the VOCs, chlorine from water. TDS meter testing method is widely used in reverse osmosis system, if a RO membrane doesn’t have a good performance, the TDS is relatively higher. And if TDS is getting much higher, means it’s time to change the RO membrane. So please do not use TDS to test any water except Reverse Osmosis System, because the result is meaningless. It’s literally exactly what I wanted. I was able to get filtered water from my main faucet without drilling the countertop. The water tastes perfect, and is definitely better than a Brita. Super simple installation that I was able to do myself. The hot water doesn’t go through the filter. In my building, it takes about 30 seconds for it to get hot anyway. So if I want to save the filter, I can just use hot water for things like dishes. It’s exactly what I was hoping for! The water flow is still great too. Doesn’t seem to take much longer than before to fill a bottle. No leaks either (granted it’s been 1 day).
