I love the fact that it has an earphone jack so you can listen to it in bed without disturbing your partner. Very easy to use and set channels and alarms, etc., I like the fact that the display can be bright or dim. I bought this for my husband. Review: Strong reception - I bought this radio for it's advertised strong am reception and it delivered. Excellent pull in power on fringe stations. FM is excellent as well. The sound quality is quite acceptable for a unit of this size. The backlighting is not the best and the backup battery in case of power outage is a joke--only ten minutes. It has a permanent energy storage device (assuming it is a SuperCap or something like that) that provides power for 10 minutes to keep time through brownouts. All settings other than the current time are stored in flash memory so they are permanently retained (alarm times, radio memory, etc.). The lack of a long-term battery may be a disadvantage for some people. For me, it seems like in my locale all we have are brownouts or very long outages, so the back-up batteries in most clocks aren't that useful to me, and you need to replace them every now and then. None of the clocks we have with batteries will actually alarm when the power is out, they just keep time. The power needs to come back on before the set time to get the alarm, which is seldom the case in a long outage. **Q: Can the alarm time be turned back, or only forward? That is, to change from 8:00am to 7:45am, do you have to push the button once for hour and 45 times for minutes?** A: Hours and minutes are set separately. If you are in the hour formatting phase, you cannot change the minutes. They must be set separately, using the same method/formats. To set TIME, press alarm button, press time set till you hear a beep, press tuning up or down to set the hour, THEN PRESS TIME SET AGAIN to set the minutes, and the minute digit will flash. Follow the same direction to set the minutes. Continue the same steps to select weekday/weekend alarms. You continue this process, starting with TIME SET, to select frequencies, bands, and type of alarm (radio/buzzer). There is an adjustment screw on the bottom that's easy to access.
