With this grill, only 1/3 of the burger ended up in the fire! It was definitely easier than using the heavy metal grill that comes standard on campsite fire pits. However, it wasn't fool proof in terms of food falling through the metal wires. Also, it is truly HUGE. I was shocked when the box from Amazon arrived on our porch. In the photos it appears much smaller and I assumed since it is labeled as a "campfire basket grill" that it would be convenient for packing and hiking with. However, to my disappointment, it doesn't fold up any smaller (it seems that the handle should flip over the basket for storage) and therefore took up a lot of extra room in our trunk.
