However, right out of the package I put them on, then put on my hiking sneakers, and went for a long walk. Unlike any other ankle sock, these stay put! They don't crawl down into the shoe! They are as soft as melted butter and not too thick. I won't have to buy an extra 1/2-size shoe to take sock-wearing into consideration because they are nice and thin... solid, not see-through, but not as bulky as cotton socks. The real test was at the end of the day! I usually have to take my socks off before I take my pants off, or they will come off inside the pant. I have to dig them out. These socks stay on and don't slide even a little! Also, I wear a size 9.5 sneaker. I ordered the Large and they're perfect. When I first saw them, I was afraid I'd have to return them because they were too small, but they're so stretchy, I know they would work for any size in the Large range.
