Doesn’t take much to fill it up. It sits in our field 150 yards from our home and the orange shows up so well in showing direction and amount of wind. Need to pound it in the ground slightly temporary.** A: I used an 8' T post and drilled a couple of holes to anchor a 1/2" metal rod at the top of the post and drilled a hole in the top of the rod and put a screw in the hole and clipped the windsock to the screw. Airport socks are weighted, jointed and are on an axle that turns in the wind. These are free blowing and you will need to provide a method for it to rotate around a pole or at the top of a pole. The angle of the sock from the horizontal will give you an idea of wind speed but the airport sock is much more specific as to shape of sock and wind speed.
