I wanted to love it!!
Quit working after 2 weeks. I was really disappointed when it quit working because this was awesome when it did work. I have an old house that has a bathroom without a vent fan. This little beauty worked very well keeping the air clean of odors. But then it quit. I checked all the trouble shooting items the directs said to check and nothing. Fortunately with Amazon Prime I was able to return it for no cost.

Honestly, I was skeptical...so I bought two
So I tried this after getting a suggestion from my supervisor when I was telling her about my respiratory issues due to my allergy to my cat (I'm happy she did not suggest that I get rid of the cat!!!). So I went to the internet and did some research about air purifiers. I was skeptical about whether they really do what they say so I figured I would be willing to part with $30-$40 for the sake of breathing and keeping my cat. So I bought two different brands to see which one would work best. I was going to give this a try for a full month before sharing my review. Well it only took a week for me to see some results:1. The early morning wheezing due to cat fur and dander: GONE in less than a week (but I also vacuum and dust regularly-but even with that I was still waking up wheezing).2. The strong cat smell in the house: GONE (I have a very small house so one funky room means a funky house).3. The air actually does seem fresher in my house (I keep one in my bedroom and one in one of the bathrooms where I keep the litter box).4. The white noise and the light from the one I keep in my bedroom actually helps me to get to sleep at night since I did away with a tv in the bedroom.5. This is a far better option than putting an air freshener over the litter box (I use the GermGuardian GG1000 over the litter box).Only negative- the Gideon produces some kind of black stuff on the wall near the outlet. I just wipe it down with a wet wipe every so often and it's fine. Not a deal breaker for me.All in all...I am sold. I will always have an air purifier in whatever house I live in from now on...cat or no cat (but I will most likely also always have a cat). I would recommend either one of these (I also bought the GernGuardian GG1000 and I keep that one in the bathroom with the litter box)

Gideon should explain its product better
ASHRAE (American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers published a Position paper on Filtration and Air Cleaning in 2015 which stated clearly (p.12) that "Any ozone emission (beyond a trivial amount that any electrical device can emit) should be seen as a negative and use of an ozone-emitting air cleaner, even though the ozone is an unintentional by-product of operation, may represent a net negative impact on indoor air quality and thus should be used with caution. If possible, non-ozone-emitting alternatives should be used.UV light that kills germs most effectively comes from UVC wavelength region (as vs UVA and UVB). The most effective wavelength that can be produced easily from Mercury vapor lamp for killing germs is 254nm. UV lamps that produce 254nm light can also generate 185nm light, which produces ozone. To filter out 185nm light, the manufacturers can use doped fused quartz material for their lamps.Even though Gideon device seems to produce ozone, I still bought 4 units for my vacation home because I can use them when I am not there (with timers) and it should be able to help prevent mildew and mold in the bath rooms and kitchen. I have also bought some for my regular residence, but I intend to be more careful when I use them. I would only use them when I am not in a room, and I will air out the room before I enter it. I think this can still put the units to good use. That the units are working can be witnessed most directly by observing the "filters" which I think are actually electrodes that attract debris via electrostatic forces. I can see black streaks on the filter plates and also black smoky areas on the plates which suggests to me that germ particles are being removed. This is also where Gideon could explain more clearly.I have had my units for only a few days, so cannot say how reliable they are.

Not worth it
This item was very unsatisfying. At first it worked great but smelled very strongly of burning. That went away mostly then today, 3 weeks after buying it, the fan just quit working. I checked the filters and everything and nothing was out of place. Not worth it.UPDATE: The company sent another, and now the light broke after 2 months. I hadn't even handled it or anything.

Worked like a charm
I actually really like these fans. I started using them in my apartment as I would occasionally catch whiffs of smoke (probably from neighbors smoking in the apartment above me). It got so bad that my sister asked me if I had taken up smoking when she came to visit. I couldn't stand it, so I bought two of these small air purifiers to see if it made a difference. I have to say, I have noticed a difference. The air doesn't smell like smoke anymore. It doesn't smell of anything really, but when I come home sometimes, I feel like the place smells like a hotel (is that weird - maybe they use air purifiers, I dunno). It's definitely not a bad thing. It smells neutral. You have the option of running just the fan, or running the fan and the light. I don't truly know that the light does much, so I just run the fans as I don't like the eery blue glow.I'm very pleased as these seem to have done exactly what I had hoped ... neutralized the light smoke odor.
