Backpacker's Pantry Hawaiian Style Rice with Chicken, Two Serving Pouch

I've recently returned from a trip around Iceland, a paralyzingly expensive place. We attempted to manage this by camping our way around the island, and bringing a good number of dehydrated dinners. This was a successful approach, and provided me with perspective, as I enjoyed a range of different options.Reviewing this, I probably don't need to point out you don't eat dehys as a special dinner. It's unfair to compare it to a homemade meal with fresh ingredients. It's meant to be lightweight and expedient, with the final product warm food that can fill you.This is a good one that I'd recommend. Earlier in the trip I enjoyed Backpacker's Pantry's Sweet and Sour Chicken, which was just sweet and pretty underwhelming. This had a nice mix of the sweet and salty, had a nice balance of ingredients and wasn't too watery, and was overall warm, filling, and tasty. If you're camping or stuck in some remote location, and Hawaiian chicken and rice sounds good, you could do a lot worse.

Rehydrated perfectly fine. Was very filling and provided good energy but the taste was very heavy on the sweet and sour. If you don't enjoy sweet n sour chicken a lot it may be a bit much.

Tasty. Did actually taste like Hawaiian rice. I'm really impressed with Backpacker's Pantry items at the camp site. Much easier than having to cook items. And they pack light.

Very tasty. I had this meal at Lake Blanche, in the Wasatch range at the top of Mill B Fork. The rice came out cook perfectly and the flavoring was excellent.

Not the greatest tasting, but I knew that going in, and the dehydrated food works very well when either backpacking or bikepacking. Will buy again.

A new flavor and I was happy with the change up from the more traditional backpacking dishes.

It even tastes like food. It comes in a nice slim pack to fit in your pack.

My wife found it too sweet, and it was on the verge of too sweet for me. If that's what you're after, though, you may like this.
