The lids can be hard to put on, but if you start from the side with the two compartments, they snap on just fine. I've washed mine in the dishwasher twice, and they have held up so far! I'd rather wash and reuse than throw away 3-4 baggies on a daily basis! I have had some leaking of sauces and marinades for some of the items I pack. Mine have been through the dishwasher 1-2 times and I haven't noticed any deterioration in quality. I bought these initially to send lunch to school with my toddler but I've realized they are perfect for all of us. Great size and great compartments. On two of the bowls, there were specs of dust or plastic in the mold - we couldn't clean it off because it was engrained. I reached out to the company (who had already emailed me for feedback) and they sent me a code for another 6-pk that are perfect. We simply threw those two bowls away. Another note is the covers were a little difficult at first but after the first time closing them, they snapped on easily but tightly.
