Some are in hard-to-reach places like in the crease behind the ear, requiring some creativity for prolonged wound care. If you don't know about this, it can take up to 10 weeks or more for a cauterized wound to heal, requiring daily dressing changes. Like many wounds, these come with a prescribed treatment protocol. First, is a non-adherent pad. Second is a good seal around the pad to prevent infection and to ensure that the dressing ointment (sterile petroleum jelly) stays in place.
